So most of the people on say the HKPRO fourms that have their AR-15s with the 416 upper are commiting a crime?

I thought as long as the peice doesnt enable full-auto it is still legal(I could be completly wrong too)

dunno but theres always the chance that they have Class III licenses.

For the record: You may Not install ANY MI6 Fire control componenets in to your AR 15, To include, but not limited to ...bolt carrier.... Thats the law.

Colt, LMT, Noveske, LaRue, and others all sell AR15s with M16 carriers.  Thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of people have M16 carriers in their AR15s.  Are these people breaking the law?

I am a REAL STEAL DEALER- I am speaking of FIRE CONTROL COMPONENTS Ie: hammers triggers selector, disconectors and BOLT CARRIER. You MAY NOT install any of them. Folks who use Fa carriers are doing so for dwell time to enhance extraction... LMT makes an enhanced SA carrier that is legal.
If you have a semi Ar and all the internals from an M16  this can be considered  a vilolation of the NFA.even if you dont install them. YOU as a civilian can not build a Machine Gun any longer. Before May 1986  it could be done on an ATF 5320.1 form....Thats  long gone.

You can still build on a Form 1: Short barrled rifle
                                               Short barled Shot gun
                                                AOW
                                                Silencer/suppressor
                                                 DD/destructive Device

PM me if I can asit with a question.
I spoke to ATF,  it is not recomended to use any m16 parts in you rifle.  if you run the carrier you will not be in vilolation, but you can NOT run any other part at the same time. IF your weapon should fail into a burst mode Ie; worn disconector(yes it happens) and you are found to have ANY M16 parts  you may have to find a lawyer. the price of a legal enhanced SA carrier is far less than 60 minutes worth of lawyers fees. I was more commenting on 'class III licenses' - there's no such thing.

The M16 carrier has other benefits other than increasing dwell time through increased mass. Since the firing pin is shrouded, the carrier cocks the hammer back, not the firing pin. They're also generally higher quality.

The LMT Enhanced BCG you're pimping is also unusable in sticks less than 16". That's not fun.

A lot of FUD here.

hey Vince,,whats a 16" stick?..And for your INFO Im not PIMPING anything. simply stateing fact.As for the ENHANCED BOLT CARRIER not working in????

I have Customers Both Civilian and LEO that run this set up in guns with barrel lengths from 10.5" -20"+ , Both in NFA Mgs, and semi Ar's.The carriers do not Set the Hammer any diffrent than a standard carrier. Its all about weight and thickness around the FP.

I simply posted to this thread  concerning HK gas piston guns, and the out of this world price. HK is one of the Best Arms builders there is, But they are not the end all be all.
The big changes that I can see  (I HAVNET FIRED THE HK) is the Gas piston and perhaps the ejection port looks a bit bigger.

My reason for posting : WHY spend 6500.00 for a weapon  simply because its made by HK, when for under $2000.00 you can buy an LMT  gas piston weapons system. or retro fit what you have now for under $700.00
Most folks wont have that kind of scratch...for those who do Great!

it's not for the weapon, it's for the rare upper. Why pay 7000-8000 dollars for Lightning Link that cost a couple bucks (if even that) to make? it's simple supply and demand, and there arent that many of them out there. Nobody knows how much the MR556 will cost because HK hasn't released pricing info, i would be willing to bet it will be around the price of the LWRC piston guns.

Not in my opinion. will 90%  of the folks who read this ever use a weapon to its full potentian,  intended purpose,or point of failure? not if they paid 6500.00 of thier hard  $$$ on it they wont......Want to collect? get the HK. it will perform if you need it. Want a weapon you can shoot all the time, without fear of detracting from its colletor value..get the LMT

Like I sid im not going to spend that much on a simple upper, I said i might be willing to spend $2,500 on the shorter version upper, if I really wanted a gas piston system i would just pay the $300(i think) for the bushmaster conversion kit.

I am not questioning your creds, but I do think this discussion is a good example of miscommunication.

There are several people on this forum with first hand knowledge regarding said firearms, and I think we're all on the same page.

Let's leave it at that, no one wants to hear about Vince's "stick!"

And Doc, there is no such thing as 100% reliability.  Ammo can suck sometimes.

You have been using Army ammo for too long !!  But I agree, ammo is the weakest link in an otherwise reliable weapon platform.

That is why I always have at least 40 chances to get it right with me at all times ....    8)

I found the Federal HS rounds I was carrying were prone to misfire or misfeed about once per 50 rounds but only after my Glock was hot with range rage.  Not acceptable to me so I switched to the Hornady TAP and tossed a couple of boxes into the backstop to see if I could replicate the misfire/misfeed but I couldn't get it done.  Then I remembered how spendy they are.

U.S. Gov't ammo is some of the best ammo out there.  The brass is high quality, the bullets are consistent, powder is smokeless with a very low flash, and the primers work.  ALL of the M16 and M4 failures I've seen were due to lack of proper weapon maintenance and lubrication.

At work, I have a chance to either shoot, or be present for thousands of rounds being fired, so I come across all sorts of ammo failures.  Our MTBF rates are solely dependant on what ammo we're using, whether it's a bad round or the ammo was loaded wrong into the system.

I think if the ammo is what determines whether or not you're going to have a failure, not the gun itself, you're doing okay as a weapons systems manufacturer. 8)

Things have changed a lot then.. we were using dated crap back in 88/89.  Mostly worked.  But then I didn't get rid of my VN era M16 until Hondo in 88 so the platform wasn't the best....
