Accessories & Gear / Readymag on a SCAR-L?
« on: December 15, 2008, 01:44:54 PM »
Does anyone know if an ICS Readymag system will fit the SCAR-L?  Any other brands that might?

If you have a readymag and are in the Chandler area, I'd love to try and see if it'll fit my SCAR-L.

AEG's / Loose stock on CA SCAR-L
« on: December 10, 2008, 07:20:24 PM »
I just got my brand new CA SCAR-L and tore excitedly into the box. It's a beautiful gun, but the stock wiggles a lot vertically. I can see the spacing between the metal butt plate that the stock screws into and the receiver itself and it definitely seems like that's the source of the problem.

My question is this: anybody with CA SCAR-L experience a similar problem? Do you think it's something I can fix by tightening up receiver screws? Any other quick fix?

I'm hesitant to do too much messing around unless I know there's a quick fix because if I got a dud I'm going to send it back under warranty.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Nick

Introduce Yourself! / An old vet returns... sorta
« on: December 10, 2008, 07:15:34 PM »
Hey guys,

I'm back! I decided I was lurking and that I should say hi. Most of you probably don't remember me or never met me as I played with AA 2001 through 2005. I'm hardly new, but I did take about a 3 year break from airsoft. To christen myself back in, I just got a new CA SCAR-L =) Anyway, I wish I had time to catch a game with you guys, but I'm only in AZ for the second half of December before I move out to the CA bay area to (hopefully) join the Cimmerians.

Anyway, looks like AA is as strong as ever and I'll be sure to stop by during big games.

Real Firearms / Anyone make it to SGC on the 4th?
« on: July 05, 2005, 01:26:48 AM »
They had a smokin deal going on at Scottsdale Gun Club yesterday (the 4th).  As an Independence Day promotion, they were doing free use of some of their automatics.  No lane fee (which happens to be rediculously high there for non-members :( ), no rental fee, just the cost of a mag, which happened to be $10.  About 3x what I'd pay for the ammo elsewhere (at least for the 9mm), but still, all considered, a damn good deal for air conditioned shooting.  Unfortunately, the G36, the Ak47, the UMP, and the AUG were down, though they still had the 18C, uzi, p90, mp5a2 and a4, m16a1,a2, M4 and the M635.  We opted for the m4 and the mp5.  I ran a few mags through each and, man, that mp5 was a thing of beauty.  The m4 was just a little more exciting than a normal AR, but it was still worth it.  The best part was probably the guy rocking on the M249 in the next lane  :D    Ahh, the (gunpowdery) smell of freedom!  I know where I'm spending next 4th of July!

General Airsoft Discussion / To Ressurectors and Trolls
« on: January 26, 2005, 12:39:28 AM »
I'm sick and tired of newbies resurrecting long dead threads without adding any substantive information, especially those who lie about their age.

[Name Deleted] - any more resurrections of threads (read the date, it's not hard) and you're getting banned.  And, change your age in your profile to your real age (which I know is under 18, so don't even try it) or, guess what, you're getting banned.

You ask why?  It's because most of us hit the "new topics since last visit" to find out what to read when we check the site.  And when some newb ends up with 13 posts in his first few MINUTES of joining the damn forums and not a single one of them was worth the bits representing it, it gets really annoying to have to sift through a pile of crap on topics that look interesting but in actuality are long dead and we've already read through them in their entirety.  We're really likeable and accepting, just don't be an asshat and you'll get along fine.  Violate this simple rule and we won't like you very much.  This is a private forum and as such everything you see and do here is a privilege which can be revoked as easily as it is granted.

For those lucky enough to have missed [Name Deleted]'s posting rampage, he posted 13 replies (only one was newer than a week) to dead topics with one or two word answers.  I saved you all the trouble of dealing with it by cleaning it up a bit.  Anyone else who feels like resurrecting dead threads, consider yourself warned as well.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Good GPS Unit
« on: May 19, 2004, 01:08:15 AM »
My dad has been talking with me about getting a GPS unit.  I know some of you guys use them for airsoft and quite a few use them elsewhere, whereas I have no knowledge whatsoever as to GPS units.  Does anyone have any suggestions?  Brand/product specific warnings? Features to look for, etc?

I may get to borrow it from him for airsoft since he mainly wants to use it for boat, car and camping navigation (which doesn't happen all that much).  The biggest factors are probably price and reliability.  I'm sure I can sell him on the cool features as well.

If anyone has one for sale, let me know.

Thanks!

AEG's / CA to make M249
« on: May 14, 2004, 04:11:38 AM »
Don't know if you guys have seen this on arnies:

http://arniesairsoft.co.uk/beta/html/mo ... e&sid=1152

If they can do it right, it might end up being a much cheaper alternative that doesn't require the laborious upgrading that the TOP guns do.  (Which means I might be able to finally get one!!!!)  Though, if I were TOP (or Marui for that matter), i'd be PISSED.  What CA does definitely wouldn't fly here... let's all be glad for the international jurisdiction/copyright/trademark issues being the way they are =)

AEG's / Rumor: PGC to make XM8!
« on: April 20, 2004, 02:55:54 AM »
I know some of you think it's downright ugly/stupid/too futuristic, but for those who don't know yet or do indeed like the gun, arnie's has posted news of a rumor that PGC will be creating an XM8 airsoft gun.  Here's a shot of PGC's cad design so far:

Check out http://arniesairsoft.co.uk/beta/html/mo ... e&sid=1114 for more info.

Now the question is, what do you think of it?

Accessories & Gear / Goggles
« on: July 02, 2003, 07:24:09 PM »
I'm looking into getting some Bolle goggles and I'm trying to decide which model to go with.  Any of you owned the Attacker, Defender, Commando or T-800?  Any favorites or pluses/minuses?  I've used Hector's T-800's before, but I wanted to know if I'm missing out on something if I don't try one of the other models.  Thanks,
Nick

PS If any of you are looking to get any Bolle goggles, e-mail me.  I'll try hook up the first couple with prices lower than botach's.

General Airsoft Discussion / And the winner is...
« on: June 23, 2003, 05:58:31 PM »
For those of you that attended the game at the Cajun House, you know that the leftover money from the entry fee was pooled for a $50 gift certificate rather than each of us receiving our $2.25 back.  After a random drawing the winner is... (drumroll, please):

Samuel Winham  ($50 Certificate to my store)

And, in the spirit of giving, I drew two more names and decided to throw in $5 gift certificates for:

Jeremy Bridwell
Robert Anderson

So, congratulations to the winners!  If you are any of those people, send me an e-mail at Kamikaze_SM@hotmail.com

Note: This topic will be sticky until the three winners contact me, so if you know them, tell them! Unfortunately, I don't know their nicknames on the forums.

General Airsoft Discussion / Order!! Need anything airsoft??
« on: May 28, 2003, 02:22:04 AM »
Just wanted to let everyone know that I'll be putting an order in in the next few days.  E-mail me for price quotes on anything you want.  I want to have it all ready to go by Thursday, so let me know by then if you need something (AEG's, BB's, magazines, etc.).  By the way, magazines are still $25 for standards (and G&P's) and $35 for hi-caps.

Kamikaze_SM@hotmail.com

Thanks,
Nick

EDIT:  P.S.  I may be able to get some Marui Decellerators so you can use your upgraded guns at the CQB game.  Let me know if you're interested and I will get a price for you.

Accessories & Gear / G & P 130rd Standard M4 Magazine - Mini-review!
« on: April 19, 2003, 02:04:42 AM »
Well, I got in some of these puppies a few days ago.  From the outside they seemed normal, just like any other mag (minus the winding wheel), but I can't remember if they were plastic or metal, but it may have been plastic... too lazy to go downstairs and check =).  Anyway, I went and got my loading rod and loaded it up.  Of course, it took 2 full rods, which is amazing in itself.  Two things I noticed at this point.  The Bad: The spring is pretty stiff (may not load with autoloader).  The Good: The spring is pretty stiff (harder to outpace the BB feeding).

At this point, I ran into my backyard with my M16 and grabbed the mag.  One problem here... the fit was VERY tight.  I think it was because I have the Systema Metal body on mine, but the thing was not gonna come out on its own.  A slight pull and it was out like usual, but getting it in there I had to slap it a little harder than I would a Marui mag.  I think the problem here mioght be the scaling.  From what I've read, Marui scales their guns to just under real size.  So, when I tried a real .223 mag in my airsoft m16 it wouldn't load at all... I think the G&P may be a little more true to reality, but in a plastic body it should fit fine.  Anyway, the tight fit prevented rattle, so after crawling around (silently) in my back yard, I flicked the selector.  Lo and behold, the thing worked beautifully in semi.  A couple of times it popped 2 BB's into the 'chamber' (i think because of the spring strength), but I'm sure that will go away with use.  After I got bored with semi, I flipped it into auto.  Here is where it really shined =)  It didn't skip once!  I resumed my favorite practice of cutting weeds with the stream of BB's flying from my gun.  Only when I was reaching for the mag to instinctively change the "small" standard, it kept shooting!  I know that sounds pretty obvious, but the joy of one-handed quasi-hi-cap firing is nearly transcendant (okay maybe not, but not having to wind is great).  The thing kept on spitting out BB's and by the time I went inside, twice as many weeds loathed the existence of the new G&P mag...

So, in conclusion, if you dont' mind a tight fit or filing the mag a little to make it fit a little better, buy these.  If you want awesome capacity sans winding, buy them.  If you just wasted a ton of money on CA standards, buy these (ahem, Kyle).  If you want to get some, I'll be ordering within a week or two, so if there is large demand, I'll get em as soon as you want em.  Still $25.
