Actually, I would prefer the ballistics of the 200 V.S. the 230
*
ballistics of the 200 grain: ( with 5" barrel )
( Initial muzzle velocity )1055FPS/494FT-LBS
at 50 yards: 982 FPS/428FT-LBS
at 100 yards: 926 fps/380FT-LBS
*
ballistics of 230 grain: (again w/5" barrel)
(initial muzzle velocity )950 FPS /461 FT-LBS
at 50 yards: 908 FPS /421 FT-LBS
at 100 yards: 872 FPS/388 FT-LBS
IMO - Since most confrontations/ gunfights occur at or less than 50 yards I believe It would be advantageous to run the 200 grain versus the 230, because between initial muzzle velocity and 50 yards the 200gr has almost 100 FPS more than the 230; But that's not really what I am concerned with; It is the 33 extra foot pounds that gets more knockdown power where you need it. (in theory)
I may have concerns later however about the velocity at 100 yards as it is still traveling very fast and keeps good trajectory. ( IE going through walls ) but still, at least it's not a 9mm,* which in a 147Gr will still be traveling at 899FPS at 100 yards, the 114 at 971 fps, both generally with a lower foot pound. ( why I upgraded to a .45 )
