At the last game I went to, Ed (nice asian guy) suggested that I take a look at APD for my next gun. He mentioned someone's name that I should look for specifically, but I don't remember who he said.. Any hints?

Also, do they sell systema parts and will they do gearboxes?

I can't vouch for APD's technical experience, but Dean is OK and  Paul and Jeremiah are great.

i think the guys at apd are really great they know alot about what they sell and most of my guns where only  few days to be fixed, and they have a great selection of systema parts that came in a little while ago i just put one of the magnum motors in my m4 adn its amazing how fast they go.
