New(ish) M4
« on: January 05, 2005, 05:05:54 PM »

Finally got everything together and installed. Yay for christmas and jobs to be able to afford all of this   :P

External:
Stock TM reciever
stock inner barrel, I left this the normal length and covered it with the         suppressor to maintain accuracy/power
Prime crane stock with 3300mah 9.6v battery
TM aimpoint (will get better when I have money)
G&P CQBr with TM vertical grip and CA plates
ICS long QD suppressor

Internal:
PDI 170%
Systema silent piston head
Systema polycarb piston
systema metal bushings

Next thing to upgrade will probably be my gearbox and/or gears, then reciever. This will probably end up waiting until I turn 15 and can get a real job

Did all of the upgrades myself, and it seems to be working alright :)
I've already played 4-5 games on my internals, plus plinking in the backyard to test things, and I havn't had any troubles yet.
The stock I think was the hardest part, had some trouble with the selector switch when I rewired (the small safety lever that stops the trigger was getting caught on the red wire.)

The camera makes the painted parts stand out from the unpainted, but you really can't tell looking at it.

I left the wires exposed for two reasons:
I left them a bit long, and they simply wont fit.
If there are any troubles with it not shooting, I know where to look :)
They are soldered though and shouldn't come apart.

I thought that too, on my little shorty with crane stock, but with it exposed and moving around so much, the soldier comes apart, if you can get it to run through the tube, DO IT.

Well if you used deans connectors...They WONT come unsoldered, once you do a good tin and solder on those, there never gonna come off..Trust me Ive tried To pull then off, lol. Ended up pulling the wires out of the actual battery pack instead.

The connectors are deans. I used a good amount of flux, and the joints are pretty clean. I'll take your advice phx and secure them a bit, but I'm not sure I want them covered until I've used it a bit first.

Its so purty!   8)

Nice job, for your age thats alot of cash to be putting down.  Are you gonna give it a paintjob to match any areas or just leave it the regular black.  It looks nice as is though.

Dude, that's one sick gun. The supressor looks sweet on that. Is it a metal body? You should get a metal body.

Missed that one. Get a metal body. The worst think on an M4 is the damn bend it has. The metal body fixes that.

Yeah but things tend to be more complicated to p ut back together when you have a metal body.

Actually I havn't noticed any flexing yet. I do plan on getting a metal body eventually though. Yeah it is a lot of money :p I've been putting the gun together with christmas/birthday/odd job money for around a year now though.

Busta, I don't think I'll be able to make it to the game on saturday.
