Gun destroying lipo
« on: April 08, 2013, 07:47:15 AM »
My buddy has a m4 which he upgraded and got a matrix 3000 motor. He shimmed it, but isn't that experienced with shimming. Using a g & p gearbox shell, we tested it and it destroyed my lipo(7.4 and 11.1 with deans, got all puffy/liquidy inside. So we installed a mosfet and silver coated wiring, it still did it, but not as quickly. Any ideas guys?

Check the position of your adapters female and male plae meant as well as motor position and wire contacts then check your trigger contacts and evaluate all your wires for frays or interference

Sounds like your wiring is crossed somewhere.  Since your mosfet slowed it down a little, I would inspect the wire insulation for the full length of your +/- wires.  You might have a short where one or two threads are touching the gearbox.

The lipo didn't have a high enough discharge rate.....
Also check the motor plate for burn marks......
   are you using a 1000mah 10c lipo

Thanks guys will do, used a 11.1v 1300mah 25-50c discharge rate and a 7.4v 1400mah 15-25c discharge rate. I will check for frays, in my mind i was thinking it was the shimming job, but now along with that i think it is a few wires touching the gearbox shell where the motor goes in. Deans ultra wire have very weak insulation.
