Greetings from Utah!
« on: November 05, 2013, 10:36:34 PM »
Howdy, folks!

I thought I'd create a profile here, introduce myself,  and poke around.

I'm a veteran airsofter up from Utah. I've been in the sport for quite some time. I love large-scale milsim games, but I enjoy a lazy day of regular airsoft like anyone else. I'm in the Army and thanks to Uncle Sam I'm attending college debt free. I'm into elk hunting, reloading, women, whiskey, and, of course, airsoft.

I'll be down in Bullhead City, AZ over the Christmas holiday this year and was wondering if there are any clubs in the area hosting events during that time period (from the endish of December to the beginning of January).

I did a forum search for the term "bullhead" and the most recent topic was from waaaaay back in 2007. In addition, I tried using a bunch of different search terms on Facebook to see if I could find any teams there too, nothing.  ???

If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd be very grateful.

Well, greetings. Nice to meet someone who enjoys the finer things in life.  ;D

Most of us here on AA are in the Phoenix/Tucson area, so are games are down south. Not sure if they're still active, but the Northern Arizona Airsoft Network is your best bet for that end of the state. Nothing is posted yet, but there might be some games down here in that time frame...

Not to sound ridiculously lazy, but could you post a link to where airsofters in Utah organize? Seen a couple of videos of games they host on YouTube and they seem pretty legit. Might be worth planning a trip up to Zion that coincides with a game up there.

A trip to Zion? Ha, hahahaha. Oh the lulz. I'll give you a rundown of the state's airsoft scene.

A trip would be worth it when Weapon Blender throws their next Rhodesian Revolt. Otherwise...not so much. It'd be making a two day drive for a normal day of Saturday airsoft. RR is kinda like a the combination of Fallout, FarCry 2/3, and the Choose Your Own Adventure novels. Open world, factions, politics, and an in game currency (there's a LOT more). The game nets anywhere from 200-250 players. All of your food, ammunition, and water is purchased in game with in game currency. It sounds a little hardcore, but it isn't. It's a blast.

Here's a video compiled by a third party of RR 2.0.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nsXgAeaySl0

RR2.0 took place this last summer over the course of 3 days out on some private property that Weapon Blender owns. It's about 280 acres of fully developed property.  The club I'm a member of Utah County Airsoft. UCA is the PR/Airsoft wing of Weapon Blender. We help run the whole game, as almost 90% of our members volunteer for admin positions. We're really connected in name only to Weapon Blender. Most of our members work at the store, but the store doesn't support us financially in any way.

Here's our most recent private game on the property (no scenario, just a fun day of UCA airsoft). You'll notice that there are more buildings in the village as compared to the village of RR2.0. UCA is tasked with building the site and generally maintaining the property.

Aaaaand the website for the "Sandbox". http://battlethebox.com/

If you're interested, here's my club's website. http://utahcountyairsoft.net/

There are an innumerable amount of clubs in the state, but the three big ones are Black Ops Elite (stay awaaaaay), Black Thorn Airsoft, and UCA. Black Ops Elite has a checkered past, the current leaders of the organization have been known to lie about previous military service that never happened, and are usually the source of 100% of the state's airsoft drama (they wear rank, call themselves/each other by rank, wear SOF flashes + SOF pins on green berets, and generally make my blood boil with Stolen Valor fury). Black Thorn Airsoft is more or less the collection of the majority of the state's airsofters who don't want to milsim, but who want to avoid the BoE drama. If you happen to find yourself up in Utah itching to Airsoft, BTA generally runs games every Saturday. Their primary venue for communication is Facebook.

What, no Zion? I've always wanted to cut my own arm off with a Leatherman. :P

I've hear of Rhodensian Revolt and it seems badass. Keep us updated and you'll probably have an Arizona contingent at the next one.

Thanks for the heads up on the scene in Utah. The field seems like it would be worth a visit if I was in the area. Look for the guy with a beer gut in woodland carrying a SOCOM 16 or a SIG 552. That'll be me. ;D
