Not sure whats so hard to understand about that...

The only thing is I think he may have meant "turned" not "tuned"

Tuned - Shot

And, Ganefs right. It's an anti-war (or anti-recruitment) film. It was hardly funny, entertaining, or anything else.

'Rick', research something before you talk about it. K?

I read the book when it first came out. I think that was when Greg was in Basic. It was really lame but had the smell of a screenplay all over it. So the guy got what he aimed for, money and a little fame. The writing was amateurish and the thing has zero plot or even any tension to draw the reader in. Oh well, hurray for Hollywood.

I think you are exactly right. Didn't he come out with another book shortly after that one? Something totally unrelated that bombed?

Saw it opening day.

Here's my take on the flick:

-Not bad overall.

-Pretty accurate, if a bit far-fetched at times.

-Got pissed a few times at the ridiculously stupid actions of the main character.

-Fantastic visuals of the Desert Shield/ Storm terrain.

-Jamie Fox (sp?) character was my favorite, and reminded me of several high-speed NCOs I've met in the military.

-The main character is a SH*TBAG!  He should have gotten the sh*t beat out of him, repeatedly.

-Calling it a recruting film is ridiculous.  It's about as anti-Corps as a movie could be.  Marines are switched-on, high speed, highly motivated, very confident, and very proud individuals for the most part.  I find it unfortunate that it was chosen to portray the exception rather than the rule as this films main character.

-Again, the main character is a Piece of Sh*t.

-Jake Gylenhall (sp?) is a decent actor.

And please quit saying "tuned," and "in the face."  It's getting stale, thanks.

I just saw it.  It was alright.  But I have one question though, did they make Oakley M-Frames like that in '91?

Haha really?  They had M-frames, but they were a much boxier style back then.

Then again, the oakleys were rocked in BHD and that was 93...

Again, I am sure to make lots of points with this, but it IS how I saw it.

Another typical Gen X film loaded with GEN X Tunes, and lots of blah........
RAP sucks and has no place in society, except for prisons.
This is NOTHING but a recuitment film, trying to swing in some braindead high school drop outs to sign up.

Waste your money elsewhere.

FLASH

Maybe I'm misenterpreting(sp?) what you said. I agree with you about rap, however, Jarhead is not a recruitment film, and to make a statement like that seems a bit disrespectful to an elite fighting force that is responsible for a good piece of our freedom.
Just my two cents.

I saw it last night. Not to thrilled. Some parts were far fetched, some parts real to life. Not a lot of action at all. Can't say I liked it, can't say I didn't. Jamie Foxx was probably the most entertaining part of the movie.

Scale of 1-10. I give it a 6.

well to rate a war movie it does get a 6, but this isn't a war movie. it's a movie about life in the military during a war. like the downtime, which i'm sure there is much of, follow by some EXTREME battle field pressure.  i thought this movie was a 91/2 out of 10

tldr:  if you want a action/war movie go see doom.

edit: jamie foxx did do a great job in this movie.
