Sounds like alot of fun.  We end up doing the elliptical with rucks on days when its too muddy to run (you can run...just you are getting nowhere fast). An hour of that will kill you flat out.  One thing Ive stopped recently is eating as healthy as possible.  Just doesnt do enough for me.  Plus my PFT score has gone up almost 40 points...AND I can still have donuts!

Does anyone workout at Pure Fitness? I am thinking of getting a membership at the one on T-Bird and 43rd ave.

Hell, I'm down in the Valley enough anyway. What's the place like? I do like the fact that a biker bar is next door... 8)

Come join us on the Gilbert JV football team after we lose, you lose a lot of weight!!!Sorry, but really, I lost like 10-15 pounds run 200 yd laps and doing up-downs every 5 yards. (A belly flop then jump back up as fast as possible) It sucks doing them though.

Fitness 1 gym, great place to work out, good facilities, equipment is new and they have all of the goods for every part of the Body.

I have tried all of the supplements out there and have spent hundreds if not close to $1000 (in company money, HA) to find the good stuff.  Best tasting shake with the best balance of vitamins and B12 complexes and 40 grams of pure Ionic protein (that means if you have just the protein it blends in clear in water, you can't even see it in the water once blended) is "ISO Pure." Best in the morning due to it's kick ass Energy Drink like pick me up.  Best taste is with Soy Milk or non fat milk and since it is derived from organic soy it tastes great. You can even mix it with whole fruit or fruit juice for a smoothie version.

For protein bars the "Detour" bars made by Designer Whey are The Best Tasting Bars Hands Down!  They taste like a "Snickers" bar and have 42 grams of protein.  You will be amazed to find that you actually feel full after eating this bar!  It's Crack in the form of protein, it's that good!

Liquid Vitamins are the best due to their high absorbtion rate, Cal / Mag or a calcium and magnesium supplement is recommended as well since the rebuilding muscles require high levels of calcium and will help you sleep as well.  The magnesium works in conjuction with the calcium.

When trying to lean out cardio work outs are best in the morning since your body is going off of an 8 hour fast.  To begin with a minimum of 20 minutes of variying degrees of difficulty for the cardio.  Work up to more time in natural progession in 2 week intervals. When building muscle mass evening work outs are best followed by another 20 minutes of cardio to promote flexibility and blood flow.  Plus you go to sleep several hours later allowing the muscles to rest and rebuild.

Bottom line if you want to lose weight you Must do cardio work outs, running, bicycling, elipticals, cross country etc.  Same for bulking up you have to work the muscle groups to get them bigger.  To achieve either goal you need to adjust your diet to fuel the machine to run that specific course!

I Am A Product of Scientifically Engineered Grub, Liquid Vitamins, Ionized Whet Proteins, when to eat them, what order to introduce them and how to mix them into your diet, Diet is 50% of Your Workout, the rest is how I'll bust on this sorry excuse of a biomechanical machine I call my body!

Call Me Dave I'll work out with you, you know where I live!

Hey shouldnt this weitlifting/fitness crap be in the OFF TOPIC are?
I mena it has little to do with airsofting.

Actually, it has a lot to do with airsoft if you are serious about this hobby. If you aren't in good shape, the really fun games like lion claws and irene will kick your ass. If you can't run a mile, you won't be able to play hard even half way through the first day. How many fatass heat casualties did you guys count at Irene? I personally helped about 3.

Also, being in decent shape will make you feel better and live a lot longer. But who would ever want that when you can have 16" pizzas all to yourself?

Yeah, I go to LA fitness every now and then. My best motivation is when I'm on the treadmill (sp), and there is that girl in front of me on the bike, theres something to look at.. and I can run MILES that way. I'm not too much for muscle building, and etc, but.. as long as I can go longer than the first game, without having to quit and go home and build models, I'm perfectly fine. Ya know? ;)

Interesting to step into the middle of this little testerone fit, boys. Points raised are fascinating. Yeah, snipers are always skinnny dudes in great shape who jog 50 miles to sit in a tree for a week. Damn sure they are not fat.
And Greg brought up a point I was going to but thought, 'oh well'. And that is complaining about that hill this last Saturday, well boys, that's just not good. We're talking about a hill that's maybe a 50 meter climb, wow if that's a struggle maybe you should be doing computer games all night. And for sure, if you go to one of the big ops like Lion Claws or Irene you better be able to hump your ass around or you will be left behind and really embarrassed.

And, since this topic is about working out..... what could be a better, more fun workout than humping around an airsoft game with your buds? So some here are missing the point..........

This was a good thread. Hate to see it go downhill (to the tune of 2 full pages) in just a day.

Back kinda on topic, from everything that I have seen, the suppliments and stuff are great for getting into shape for a body building competition, or to show off for the ladies, but are not necessary if you want your body to perform.  When it comes to actually humping a load long distances or moving around in a patrol/gunfight they dont do much for you.  Believe it or not in order to pass courses in the Army such as Ranger School or SFAS it helps to have fat on your body.  Overall fitness is good, but being able to push yourself and take pain come into play much more when applying strength to the real work.

I experimented alot with wieght gainers and supplements when bulking up.. The best was designer whey's time released whey.. Your body can only intake about 38g of protein at once and put it to use. Time released is the best way to go, take 80 in, process 30 now, and the rest later.

If you wanna slim down Hector is right, Cardio is the way to go. IF you are lifting, don't stop for very long between sets, keep the heart rate up and you will burn more fat.

Excellent point Busta Bussss,

When bulking up it is best to get protein to the muscles every 4 hours to promote optimum growth. Recommended is .6 grams of protein per pound of muscle mass/weight, Not Total Body Weight including body fat weight.  So be sure and get you body muscle mass indexed to ensure the proper protein intake.  Hydration IS Crucial, the kidneys go into Over Drive processing the excess (Yes Excess) protein and need the water to keep them working properly!

4 minutes between sets and utilizing a weight that doesn't allow you to perform 10 reps by the end of the second set, in sets of 3. In other words if you are bustin on your chest, the 2nd set into the 3 sets of bench you should not be able to push 10 reps.  If you are able to then you need to go up in weight until you can't. The point is to work the muscle to failure, get a maximum amount of recovery/blood flow to the muscle group being worked; then do it again.

For cardio utilizing weights 90 seconds is the maximum recovery time and the use of lower weights of 4 sets of 15 reps per specific muscle groups. Machines work best for this type of work out, been around for decades. Hey Woody didn't they call it "Circuit Training" back in the day??

Hector, Machines OWNNNNN and you know it. Preacher curl and tricep extensions will make the hulks arms look like sticks after a while. i think im up to around 153lbs again..o yay.

I stopped doing ( extensive) cardio for a while because it was making me lose too much fat...and it was the fat i needed to turn into muscle when bulking. IF you hit the weights like a mother every day..you will see some substantial results in a week or two.

Some say they let you use your dominant side muscles more..like right arm and left doesnt get strong as much..BUt i don't believe it..been doing it with machines for a year on and off with great results when sticking to it. Machines are the best for some things. But free weights can help pack on huge muscle after machines limit you.

They still call it that. I joined 24 hour fitness last year for their lap pool (which turned out to suck). When I went upstairs for something or other they had this Circuit all set up and dudes going around, huffing at anyone who did more than the allotted reps. Yuk.
