General Airsoft Discussion / ATTENTION FORUM NEWBIES, REQUIRED READING!!!!
« on: December 04, 2005, 02:41:09 PM »
As most of the forums users here know, you must have 10 post before you can start your own topic.

Lately there have been quite a bit of new forum users making 10 quick post just so they can start a new topic, either so they can post something for sale in the For Sale area or because they are too lazy to use the search function to find an answer to a question they have.

So we have done this:  The 10 post requirement for starting new topics has been removed.  Newbies can now start new topics till their fingers bleed - or not.

Here are some rules/guidelines that I recommend to everyone new and old before they consider clicking those two little tabs "New Topic" or "Post Reply":

1) If replying to a topic, consider if it will contribute to discussion at hand.  Post such as "thats sick man!" or "yeah, thats cool" will be deleted immediately.

2)  The search button is your friend.

3)  If you want to tell someone to do a search, you must also provide an answer to their question. If you cannot, then do not post on the topic. Brief responses only saying to do a search will be deleted on sight.

4)  Don't be afraid to fill out your profile and introduce yourself. Feel free to post something about yourself in the Introduce Yourself! area.  You may find yourself more welcome by all if we know a little bit more about you.

Good luck and happy posting!

AEG's / Left For Dead gun take 2
« on: October 22, 2005, 04:35:50 PM »
A good buddy of mine bought this AEG from Left For Dead when he posted all his stuff for sale on these boards.  When he got the AEG it would not turn the gearbox.  Plus the Magpul stock would not stay on the reciever and the wiring was shoddy.  Don't get me wrong, it is a nice looking gun, but that was about it.  Wall Hanger.

What I had to do to get it working again for him was just swap out the spring inside with a weaker one as the one installed was too hard of a spring for the motor to crank the gearbox over.  I put an M100 in it and it now shoots about 350 FPS.  The coils on the spring I took out look quite a bit thicker than the M100s.

The Magpul stock was permently modified by Left For Dead to were it would no longer fit on a real AR.  The buffer tube threads were cut off so that it would fit flush with the Guarder Metal Body.  A Guarder Real Buffer Tube Adaptor was used to slide the Magpul stock on, but thats it.  There is no way for a real buffer tube to stay securely on an AEG without drilling a hole and tapping it for some kind of set screw - which I had to do.  Now it is rock solid and is not coming off unless you take the set screw out.

The wiring appeared to be hastily slapped together to acommodate the short free floating RAS so that a battery could still be hooked up to the gun.  That was an easy fix though - some soldering and shrink tubing made for a much better and pleasant way to hide the wires behind a battery box.

The flash hider is on real tight also.  Its on at the incorrect clock position.  This is something I have not been able to fix so far.

Now, I believe there were other players in the state that bought some of this guys other custom guns.  Did anyone else have similar problems?  For what my friend paid he should have gotten a AEG in perfect working condition I feel.

Here is a pic of the gun now.  Doesn't look different from how it did before.  You need to take a closer look to see all the little things that needed to be done to make this AEG skirmish worthy.

John has informed me that the LC4 DVDs are on the way to us at this very moment!  He is sending all the 2nd platoon AZ members copies to me (45 DVDs).  I will update this thread again as soon as they arrive.  When they come in we can figure out how to distribute them to everyone.  A LC4 viewing party might be in order!

This will be the official AA game for the month of October.  To be held on Satuday the 29th.  All AA rules apply, ages 18 and up.

Location: Pathfinder AO
Time:  If you wish to caravan, we will meet at the Conoco Baja Gas Station across from Ft. McDowell Casino at 0630 (6:30am) and leave for the AO promptly at 7am.  The AO is right off of Hwy 87, it is your first left approximately 1.2 miles after the Bush Hwy turn off.  It is hard to see when coming up to it so pay attention as there is only one sign that tells you where you can turn - it is one of those yellow, diamond shaped warning signs telling you that a "T" intersection is coming up.  If you miss this turn you will have to continue to Four Peaks Rd. to turn around.  From the turn the AO is another 3 miles down a dirt road.  If you get there before the rest of us wait in the open area before the dry river bed.
The road in is a little rough, but most cars should be able to make it if they take it easy.

The Story:
In a deserperate attempt to win back the support of the citizens, the Alexandrian Army has launched a full scale operation with the aim of eliminating the rebel D.R.A.G.O.N. faction. They have been the root of so many of the problems that has plagued the governments ability to rule its own land.  Seeing the Alexandrian gears of war begin to turn, D.R.A.G.O.N. leaders prepare their exile army and reinforce the ranks with hired guns and battle hardened mercenaries.  A difficult path lies ahead for both armies, and whatever the result, it will be paid for in blood...

Commence Operation: Quick Sand!!!

Team uniform requirements:

General Airsoft Discussion / Guidelines for starting an airsoft team
« on: August 16, 2005, 12:37:15 AM »
Guidelines for the creation of a successful airsoft team.

1)  Think of a name!  This is probably the most important part of the process and why it is number one on the list.  A good airsoft team will have a really cool and possibly ominous sounding name.  Acronyms are the standard, and so should be for your new team.  NOTE:  Be sure to include the word "airsoft" in the acronym - i.e. Tactical Entry Airsoft Members, TEAM!  The world must know that you are an airsoft team after all.

2)  Rank and unit structure is very important.  It should rival that of the real military, so much so that the real military would shiver in their boots if they were to ever see your teams structure.  Heck, they should even respect your teams ranks and allow your higher ranking members to boss around lowly privates.  After all, your Sgts have more experience than those real army privates, right?  You're a Sergeant for crying out loud!

3)  This guideline goes hand in hand with #2.  Ultimate power should be granted to the leader (who is usually the creator) of the team.  This power should be demonstrated often in this individuals own team forums, where anyone that post something not within the strict, unwritten law of the team leader, will be dealt with accordingly...

4)  Power in numbers.  A good team is a big team - even if its just forum membership.

5)  Training?

6)  A good looking team website is critcal.  It shows the airsoft world you mean business.  When other players come to visit your teams site, they should marvel in awe.  It should be sooo cool that others will want to join your team on the coolness factor of the website alone - that is until visitors start getting a "Bandwidth Exceeded, Page Temporarily Unavailable, Please Try Again Later - GeoCities :)" message.

7)  Teammates need cool sounding nick names.  Everyone in the team should have a cool nick name, except for the newest members - they should have degrading, and humiliating ones.  The team leader should obviously have the coolest nick name.  Video character names are cool to use, as long as its not a girl character name.  Recommended cool nick names:  Viper, Snake, AirsofterOne, Dragon, Sniperkilla, or anything with "sniper" as a part of it is cool for that matter.  Loser sounding nick name recommendations:  busta_cap.

8)  Team meetings are very important, probably more important than actually playing airsoft games.  I mean, when are you going to get a chance to discuss what the ranks should look like and who is on fire team alpha.  This is also a chance to discuss (or listen to) the ideas of the team leader about the direction the team shall go and the tactics the team will (attempt to) employ.  You could try to have a meeting before a game, but that would mean waking up early; and after games wouldn't work either, because mom will have dinner ready early.

9)  A sharp, professional looking team uniform is in order.  It should demonstrate to others that your team means business.  Gear should also be the best.  Make sure your teammates have nothing but the best in mil-spec issued kit!  If its not mil-spec, its not deserving of your team!  Woodland BDUs are $6 for a top or bottom in the bargin bin, and mil-spec ALICE gear can be found at goodwill stores.

10)  And finally, make sure someone on your team has a car.  You will need to get the team to the battlefield somehow!

General Airsoft Game Discussion / OP: Irene Slot Available!!!
« on: August 13, 2005, 01:29:00 PM »
One of the 12 of us going to OP: Irene has had to DOR.  So we have one slot available on the AZ Squad.  The registration for this event has nearly sold out with just pre-registration.  Attending this game is an exciting opportunity to play airsoft on a real MOUT facility at Ft. Knox, KY.

If you are interested in taking this open position PM with your request.

General Airsoft Game Discussion / OP: Irene, Sept. 23-25
« on: July 27, 2005, 08:47:28 PM »
For those that don't know, this game is put on by the same guy that does Op: Lion Claws series.  Arizona fielded almost a whole platoon at this past LC4.

This event is going to be held at an unbelievalbe MOUT training facility used by the US Army at Ft. Knox, KY.
I am planning on attending.  I will be close by, er, well closer than AZ is anyway... to Ft Knox, KY around that time of September.  I have already mentioned it to a few here, but I wanted to throw this out there and see who else would be interested and able to go.  Show of hands?  Go to www.oplionclaws.com for more info.

General Airsoft Discussion / Idea for weapon safety/deadman rag
« on: August 29, 2004, 11:48:54 PM »
At a game we played at SWAT City back in March they had us use socks to cover our barrel when we were in the staging area.  I think this would be a great idea for us to adopt to the rules to use.  Even though many stress mags out at the staging area, this eventually becomes lax as the day passes on I have found.  The sock over the barrel idea is similar to barrel condoms for paintball guns.  Not only can this serve as an excellent way to safety your weapon it also shows to others that your weapon is safe and that you are out of the game (dead, waiting to respawn).  It is also less likely to get lost, I often find red rags at games that have fallen off a dead players head as they were walking back to respawn.

I think it would be an excellent idea to use in addition or at least in place of one.  I wanted to hear everyone elses thoughts on this.

For those that missed it, last Saturday, July 17th, Ron and other members of the Jungle Toy staff presented to a few members of Airsoft Arizona a plaque showing their appreciation of our support for their store. Similar awards were given to members of Airsoft Addicts and SWAIRTAC.

Thanks to all for helping airsoft grow within Arizona!

I am selling off my trusty Glock 18c sidearm.  It is used and it shows.  It has the full metal slide, upgraded recoil spring, and the mag has a hi flow Hurricane valve installed.  The selector is a bit loose and will come out of place when in the take down position if you are not careful.  The "button" on the hi flo valve is missing to, but this does not effect its performance in anyway.

First $100 takes it home.

General Airsoft Game Discussion / ASOC March Event - Lost and Found
« on: April 01, 2003, 06:56:13 PM »
After going through all my gear and the gear from the field I have discovered a couple things:
FOUND - One pair of USGI wool glove inserts in OD.  I think this belongs to one of the ladies from the Fatal Exception team, can't remember which one.
LOST - One M4/M16 standard cap mag.  After a thorough shake down of all my gear I didn't get to use I have discovered a missing mag.  It has a bit of red paint on the bottom, a para cord mag pull, and is marked "310" in black marker on the bottom.
