"matrix" 1911 carbine
« on: May 31, 2012, 10:10:06 PM »
i just bought the 1911 carbine off of evike (modeled after the Hera arms 1911). AABB makes one as well. i was wondering if anyone has used one before? or their thoughts on the gun. it's a we 1911 base. i purchased the madbull extended inner barrel and outer barrel combo and evikes cqb master upgrade kit for the 1911. ive heard that the 1911 is a gas hog and that you can take a form of Teflon tape (gas line) and wrap it around the o rings and valves in the mags to correct this a small bit? any other good upgrades or tips are greatly appreciated.

I have been thinking of picking one up. How do you like it so far?
I use to airsoft, then I took a BB to the knee.

If you're looking for a good upgrade/1911 'carbine' GBB, I'd say go with a KJW. Much better mag capacity (single stack mag which double stacks the BBs, allowing for a 26rd capacity), holds enough gas for about 1.5x mags on average, and is compatible with 99% of the TM 1911 upgrade parts on the market today, so your possibilities are really only limited by your imagination. Not to mention, they are WAY more reliable than WEs, as most of the KJW 1911s come with Co2-capable cylinders, making them much more durable. Never had an issue with mine.

Anyways, you asked about upgrades, so my relevance in the above statement would be my suggestion of upgrading your base gun first, allowing for a much better and more durable platform in the long run.
