I read an article recently that said that the Marines were ordered to turn in their M27's because Colt views the M27 as a rival to the M4, and was getting mad that their rifles were being replaced.AS for the topic at hand, it would seem logical to me that an M27 should be treated as a support weapon since that is what it is being used as in the field.
