How does AZ work?
« on: January 19, 2014, 10:54:25 AM »
I'm looking at the possibility of moving to AZ. Just curious how AZ airsoft works compared to utah. Here most games are played using public lands that allow fire arms which means we can airsoft there also. So rather then a "company" putting on a game, games are organized by "clubs." Are most games pay to play, Free, put on by "companies" or clubs, play styles?

It's a mix of both.

What types of games are common, what's the average cost at most fields.

Depends on where exactly you are moving vs. how far you're willing to go. There are a few great areas just out there that won't cost. I know of 2 near me. I'm sure up north has all the space in the world with all them woods.

in the local phoenix metro area there are 4 pay to play fields. fighter town and fort adobe are the outdoor fields and vangaurd and tempe paintball are the indoor fields. every field has a different type of play.

fort adobe: i have visited this field but have never played there, they only have one field that looked decent enough to play on but between the price of admission and the lack of players the few times i went there, i never saw the field fit to play at.

fighter town: this is the place that you will find most airsofters on a sunday morning, there is open play on saterday as well, but most players are there on sunday. it has buildings, choppers, vehicals, and treches, also has a great reffing staff and owner.
field rules are avalible in any of the fightertown game threads that many people have posted. in my opinion this is your best bet for outdoor pay to play entertainment.

tempe paintball: this is an indoor field. it is a lil small but is a realy fast paced enviroment. good staff and has guns for rent.
350fps semi auto only play.

vangaurd: a lil over twice the size but its mostly populated by players under the age of 18. also has a manditory 10'med. under 10' you are supposed to yell bang bang or surender.

at both tempe and vangaurd i have had great times shooting at people.

there are also games that are put on by teams 'clubs' on a pretty regular basis in the locals games listings on this forum.

hope this helps.

To expand on Spazz's answer, Fightertown and Fort Adobe are both out on the North East side of Phoenix.  Tempe and Vanguard are both on the east side of town.  I strongly recommend Tempe over Vanguard unless you are under the age of 18 or like making kids cry.

Ft Adobe hiked their price up to $25 now. Guess they want to get rid of the Airsoft games.

Honestly I'm hoping to stay well north of Phoenix, the Flagstaff area most likely. Then again its all job dependent. I can want to live any where but with out a job its not going to happen.
