Title: Gearbox store hours
Post by: searscr on August 29, 2007, 01:38:10 PM
Does anybody know the hours of operation for The Gearbox, formerly JT?  And will they be open on Monday?
Title:
Post by: Nil8r on August 29, 2007, 06:01:32 PM
We're open Monday through Saturday, 12pm - 7pm. Closed on Sundays.

We'll make an announcement on the official opening of the store once we get all of our new merchandise in stock towards the second week of September. We're currently open now, but it's mostly older JT stuff that we kept with a few higher end parts and items scattered through the store.

It's the former Tempe location - 1833 E. Southern Ave. Tempe AZ 85282 (Southeast corner of Southern & McClintock, just south of Taco Bell)

Jungletoy no longer exists in Arizona. All of their stores are gone from this state.

Hey Ron, are you going to be selling higher end stuff; more AEXish or go for the same ol' JT merchandise?
Title:
Post by: Native_Airsoft on August 30, 2007, 06:28:21 PM
They're going to carry CA, ECHO1, and other better airsoft replicas. Along with better tactical gear, and batteries. Or, at least that's as far as my knowledge goes on the matter of better items.

I know they won't hold the JT items though.

Ron is the man. I'll stand behind his shop 100%! from the first time I met him he bent over backwards to get me started in airsoft. And think about the doesn't just sell stuff, he also goes to the field and uses it. That alone says alot. I know were my money will go when it comes to Airsoft.

And now he'll be carring more high end guns and gucci gear what more can we ask for?

Will the store's square footage expand or will it stay the same?

We just took over the former JT location, it's not in our lease to tear out walls and physically expand the interior. However it looks MUCH bigger now than it did due to the fact that we got rid of a bunch of the trash and clutter around the store from it's JT days.

We've always had gas in stock. Green, Red, and 134a.

Now for the important question... Is the soda machine coming back?!?!
Title:
Post by: Vince on September 08, 2007, 01:27:28 PM
That thing was a piece of shit. There's a fridge with sodas for sale now, though.
Title:
Post by: Ganef on September 08, 2007, 01:56:49 PM
If you cant walk 100ft to get a soda at taco bell you realy shouldnt be drinking soda.

Got arcade games set up instead of a soda machine.
Title:
Post by: Bow-tie Assasin on September 08, 2007, 04:12:23 PM
calm down, The sodas were cold and it was convenient. But the fridge will do!

JT kept sending so much crap to them that got stuck in any available space. That thing didnt have any breathing room so the compressor burned out.

Just to post my two cents worth, I am an airsoft newbie, kind of, I got into the spring loaded ones about seven years ago when they first started popping up and haven't done anything with them until recently.

Anyway, Gearbox is awesome becasue of Ron, his cusotmer support rocks and his Airsoft knowledge is tremendous.

Definitely worth the drive!

Good Luck, Ron. Did Jeremiah come over with you?

I'll stop by in a few. I see JT is only in CA, KS and Okiehoma..Kansas and Okiehoma (!)

Chip

Jeremiah is one of our qualified AEG technicians. He hasn't been coming in very often, mainly just working from home. Great to hear from you Chip!

Ditto to what was said, Ron is as standup as they come and a great example of what represents the Airsoft community in AZ.

Grats on finally getting away from JT ;-p

Well look at who just showed up!  What the hell!  Where have you been!  I miss chasing you down trying to make sure tunnel vision didn't bite you in the ass  :P

This guy has a lot of heart  8)

You too Chip, try not to be a stranger huh.

Oh and shop Gearbox, lol.

Well, Gearbox certainly has my 100% support... but the irony just kills me:
When I first got into airsoft, JT's walls were covered with Marui's, CA's, and ICS's, but as soon as I got a job there, all those guns came down and crappy Chinese guns went up.  I sold those for about a year and a half, JT closed down, I got a new job, then Gearbox opens up with the good stuff again... and now I don't have time to airsoft anymore!   :?  Go figure.  Oh well, at least I get to build battery packs for airsoft every once in a while.   :)

That Tempe store is a great location; it's nice to see it looking so good.  Keep up the great work, Ron!

Was just in there to check it out and have Ron take a look at one of my guns. I couldn't recommend them more. Great looking store with a good selection of gear.

Thanks Ron for your help, was well worth the drive.

Holy crap...

I just moved to Arizona, and I was just starting to search for local shops.  Little did I know that literally right across the street from me there is a community-loved shop.  Are you guys up and operational yet?  I can walk to your location, and if you guys are open right now, I would love to stop by and talk, and start dropping money soon ;).

These boys rock. It may not sound like a big deal, but he gave me a discount on a battery box and dump pouch and then threw in a few connectors I needed for soldering.

It's great to have them there.

I suggested they stock some com equipment and Ron said he would work on it.

I would like to thank Gearbox Especially Ron for the exceptional work he did on my M4. When APD turned me down because it "was" a SRC he was glad to work on it.

Thanks Gearbox!

P.s It's not SRC anymore :P

do you guys have methods for removing orange paint? i dont think i can buy a KJW M9 online without getting a pistol with orange paint on the end of the slide and frame.

have any KJW beretta's right now? if so, are the slide and frame painted?
Title:
Post by: Nil8r on February 05, 2008, 09:27:03 PM
Yes we have Full Metal KJW M9's in stock. They feature either a non-painted orange plastic outer barrel (we have black or silver replacement metal barrel assemblies available) or an orange plastic cap glued to the end that is also easily removable.

I dropped into the gearbox today to see the place for the first time, say hi to Nil8r and meet SARC.  Wow, awesome place, good to see they are running a healthy number of folks through there (and Nil8r's customer service was refreshing as well).

Also wanted to mention I saw Ganef and some of his wears there...  Awesome stuff man, you should be proud of the quality your putting out and the awesome portfolio you have at the gearbox to order from.  [smilie=armata_pdt_34.gif]

Title: Commo Gear?
Post by: Schwer_Punkt_91 on February 11, 2008, 07:12:14 PM
Commo gear?  Got any in yet...  Headsets?  What about (I think they call them) security ear pieces [ear plug with the clear coil that wraps the ear] that fit family band radios?

Would love to pick up a few before Red Dagger.

Thanks Guys!

You don't want that, and they don't carry it.

Ron can probably get you the Rolls Royce of wannabe airsoft gear, the Cavalvy Toto-2 headset.

I am a noob at Airsoft. I went to Sports Authority and they recemended Jungle Toys. I go there and it's Jungle Toys, not Gearbox. Did they just not get to changing the sign? And when will it be open?
Title:
Post by: Nil8r on February 19, 2008, 12:04:31 AM
We are open, and have been for a while. It still says Jungletoy on the sign out front because (A) it's expensive to change, and (B) because that's how we're still listed in the phone book and online due to the previous JT contracts. It'll be getting changed over to the new Gearbox sign as soon as those expire.

I hope of course you're talking about our store on McClintock and Southern; if you mean the other JT location on 35th Ave and Northern than that store will never open again due to lack of payment on Jungletoy's part. We have no interest in opening that one back up.
