Local Games Listing/RSVP / Re: Airport/airplane game

I'm pretty confident this was previously declared a non-go location due to the police showing up on several locations.

As long as you're using good BB's there's nothing stopping you from using full auto with a 6.01 barrel.  I've got PDI 6.01's in more than one gun, never had an issue.

Obviously, he meant October 15th at exactly 12 noon as that's the middle of October.  Don't show up late though because then it's past the middle and the game is over.

What type/speed of RAM are you looking for.  Does the case need to be an actual tower?  I've got a spare CoolerMaster HAF EVO XB I could part with.  Possibly a power supply as well.

as for the dip in quality games, they are there if you look for them. they are not allways advertised here, you have to check your local social networking sites as thats were most of the people that are organising games will put them first.

That was kinda the point I was making.  I won't lie, I have a predisposition against social media in general.  If that's somebodies preference, that's up to them.  But ONLY posting it on Social Media divides the player base.  Personally, if I decide I want to go airsofting this weekend (yeah, right), I'm going to check here.  If I find nothing to interest me, I'll just go down to Tempe.  I'm not going to dig around Facebook or Twitter.  I would say you could call me old, but I know you're older than me.

and as much as some people dont like them, the speed ball/pick up type of game play is an integral part of airsoft that you should not dismiss out of hand. it will help keep your reactions and sighting strong as well as get your gun used on a regular basis.

That's a matter of personal preference, not liking that gameplay style is not dismissing it out of hand.  I would also say that in many cases, it's not the gameplay itself that's the problem, it's the player base that it often attracts.  But that's a discussion for another thread.

seals go bad and grease settles/dries up from disuse, batteries die.

If your batteries are going dead after 6 months, you're buying bad batteries.  :p

Take your pick there's a variety of factors.  A lot of the vets just moved on to other things as they got older.  Life and such.  Personally I also think Ron's passing was a large factor as well.  It was pretty rare to drop in and not find me or some other vet just hanging out there.  That always served as motivation for lazy people such as myself to actually go play.  A lot of other activity was based around him and Gearbox as well.  Swap meets, a place to meet up for deals, etc.

I know various groups also had some on field drama that created rifts as well.  The player base changed a lot over the years and a lot of vets weren't fans of the change.  That further decreased the desire to play.

Regarding site traffic specifically, a lot of people especially younger players moved to social media.  Other people tried to start up their own forum.  That just further divides the player base.  That said, it's not just AA either.  ASR is dead.  ASF has 1 whole member online right this moment, Arnies has 10.  Between the two of them they've had 3 new topics created today and they're both international forums.  Those three forums made up the top 3 airsoft forums by traffic a few years ago.  Considering we're geared towards just AZ, we're holding up better than most.

SASCO isn't a team, it's the name of the field which is an abandoned smelting plant.

AEG's / Re: Lipo Charging
« on: May 06, 2016, 01:06:36 AM »
LiPo's are damaged by being over discharged/used.  If they get to under 3v per cell they get unhappy.  You can't run them until they "die" like you can NiCd/NiMh.  If you were noticing the gun starting to shoot slower, you were unfortunately likely past that point already.  That would explain why you got the error when you tried to charge it.  Setting it to NiMH to bypass the error likely destroyed the battery.  Step one is get yourself a tester or a balancer.

Tester:  http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.php?products_id=16336
Balancer: http://www.airsplat.com/kong-power-voltage-meter-balancer.html

I highly recommend the latter as it's small enough to fit in a pouch on your vest or your pocket, has a nice LCD to show you the exact voltage of each cell separately, and will manually balance and/or discharge batteries.  A lot of cheaper batteries aren't properly balanced when you buy them.  I also wouldn't recommend charging faster than 1C unless your pack specifically states it's OK.

General guidelines are you get about 1 shot per mAh so you should be getting roughly 2,000 rounds out of those batteries assuming they have a full charge at start.  My general process is check my battery before I start playing and check again every 500-600 rounds or so.  I carry a spare battery on me so if I think I might be pushing it, I just swap the battery and check the original at the next break in action.  It also wouldn't hurt to charge your batteries up once to full charge, and then test their "endurance" in the backyard.  Just start doing mag dumps and checking the battery after each mag until you determine how many rounds you can safely get out of your battery.  A few bucks in BB's is worth it to avoid damaging your battery and potentially starting a fire.

This is especially important on smaller batteries.  For example the LiPo's in my AEP's are good for about 900 rounds.  If I'm running my AEP as the primary, I can go through 900 rounds surprisingly fast.

This is a long article but has a LOT of good info about LiPo's:  http://www.rogershobbycenter.com/lipoguide/
