My new knife
« on: December 27, 2005, 09:40:32 AM »
I was at the base exchange/post exchange today at Luke AFB, and while traveling down an isle, I found a really cool knife. Needless to say, I purchased it. It is a really nice knife. Heres some pics:

This is a Gerber OIF knife. It has a rubberized grip, and a plastic scabbard.

Here is the blade, with laser engraved OIF stuff. It has an Iraqi flag looking thing, with a soldier standing next to it, with an American flag pattern to him. Its really cool.

Here the the safety system, its a little catch that is nice and easy to get to when you need it.

If any of you like the knife, and can't get one, send me some money, and I will pick one up for you. I haven't seen this knife anywhere else, but I doubt this is a BX/PX exclusive, so keep an eye out. It was about $40 bucks, money well spent(in my opinion). They also had a multi-tool Gerber with the grips of the knife(the part where all the tools fold out of) tanned with OIF engravings and whatnot in them(that was $50).

What kind of steel?

Since it's Gerber, I'm thinking 440 Stainless, but I'm not sure.

We used to lace a diving knife onto our jump boots so we could get to it with one hand and get it out of the sheath with one hand... we never knew when the fucking airforce was gonna pull out short and drop us miles from the DZ into the fucking treetops....   never had to cut loose but the knife was handy and secure....

I was really tempted to buy one of those engraved multitools at the fort knox exchange during Irene.. but I was going negative on my bank account by flying to Kentucky in the first place... so... ya.

The blade is like 5.71 or something like that. Overall, its about nine inches. Its big enough to sufficiently ruins someones day. As their dying, I'll show them the neat design on the side of the blade. Hopefully, they'll appreciate the workmanship on it.
