General Airsoft Discussion / Re: Attention Please…

Our first game since we finally were able to get someone from Airsoft Arizona to come and play us!

A review of our field and team from Wolfsbane:

“Thank you very much, I had a good time and now I'm enjoying a few aches and pains but that's because I'm out of shape so it's my own damn fault and I have crappy shoes that I need to replace (but my friend Paul at Northern Arizona Paintball isn't carrying my size yet in the combat boots he sells)

The terrain was good, different from other places I've played around here - the Dells are so cool.

The different games we had kinda showed of the variety one can make out of Airsoft so that was good too.

I wasn't happy with the very under-protected eyes of some of the Cottonwood guys, they were great to play with though - I expect you made the same offer of support for loaner goggles that you extended to me so that's really their own fault but ... it could have been a nasty situation - in the future I'd recommend checking that as the hosts, just for your own protection.

I'd love to see chrono's having a higher profile but that's just my paintball experience I guess.”

My response:

For those who are confused about the glasses thing, we had two or three people that were paired with Wolfsbane to make his team. They weren’t wearing eye protection. We did make an effort to have them protect their eyes, actually we gave the kids that didn't have glasses a pair before the game I didn't notice that they weren’t wearing them until after the game. I will defiantly make sure next time to enforce that rule and make it so that if they don’t want to wear them they don't play! Period! But yes they did make that choice on their own. Because we actually did give them glasses. If I had known that they weren’t wearing glasses I would have stopped the game and asked them to put them on. I promise to be more vigilant!

I think investing in a chrono would be great for the CQB that we were having because there were a few instances of shooting high fps guns under the minimum engagement distance. But as for out on the big field, I feel that having no fps limit was fine as we didn't have any issues and haven't had any issues with that because of the long distance put between us.
And from me, thank you for taking the time to come and see that we aren’t a bunch of irresponsible kids that are giving Airsoft a bad name.

Thanks,

Keny

As a real firearm yes DPMS is a great brand, Airsoft...not so much. And to answer your question yes they did have a DPMS M4 that was made by ICS. Now please stay on topic. :|

We only airsoft in the neighborhood at my friend's house, which has an extremely large backyard, because his grandparents house is right next door, with no gates in between his and his grandparents, and gates all around the entire yard so no one can see in or out.

I thought the point of this thread wasn't to play in neighborhoods and close to houses. I also thought we were trying to get backyard "wars" banned, atleast on Airsoft Arizona... ](*,)

A fair warning though, please check with your local police and see how they feel about it before we see you on the news. [smilie=armata_pdt_34.gif]

Like I said I really don't know what the rules are where you guys play but I've checked with some of the city officials in my town and they are cool with it. Our field is almost out of city limits and also isn't easily accessible to the public, not a backyard like you are describing. It also is surrounded by 25 foot tall berms all the way around. And the nearest house is atlease 200 yards away protected by trees.

Accessories & Gear / Re: Baddass for CQB 1 on 1??????

I think it's good that they're expensive though, that way the kids don’t get a hold of them!

I could totally see giving one of these to one person on each side of an Airsoft skirmish. Everybody would be like  8-[

Honestly I've never played anything but what can be called "Backyard Airsofting." We play at my friends house and he has several acres on a horse ranch. The neighbors are fine with us playing, we don't allow people to play unless they have legitemit eye protection, and we call siesfire when "nonplayers" enter weapon range. I don't find anything dangerous about it other than the dangers that come with playing airsoft anywhere.

I think that you should be ok, that is if you have at least 4 acres and are surrounded by trees and or brush/ cover. And you don’t have any close neighbors. I think that Exarach and the others are trying to get kids that play in urban areas close to people and houses to realize that it isn't a safe thing to do. [-X

I can remember a long time ago I was invited to join some kids with their so called “team” (turns out it was 8 kids with wal mart guns) ](*,)  at their field with two members of my team. We got their and realized we were playing behind their church in a lot that was covered in mesquite trees. There were apartments all around us, and yes the cops showed up. It was after the first game when we came back to "base" to reload. The cops calmly walked over and started asking us what we were up to. After explaining everything I actually had one of the cops shooting my stubby killer haha! Even though they were cool with it, looking back it was reckless and probably could have turned out bad if one of the kids that wasn't on my team pointed one of their guns towards the officers. After that I decided that it wasn’t a good idea to play their again, so I decided to get legit and to it the safer way.

I do know for a fact that we are allowed to play at our personal field in Cottonwood now. Because down on the river we don't have to worry about anything accept transients and horseback riders (we have a safety method to make sure that we know that they are their). I also got the green light from the chief of police as well as three current city officials. Now I don't know that something like this would blow over in Phoenix because of its size. But being that Cottonwood is a small town I didn't have to much trouble. They even said it would be cool to do it at one of the local state parks, just so long as we had a $1,000,000 + insurance policy!!!!  So my team and I opted for the river haha! [smilie=armata_pdt_20.gif]

The safety method that I use at the Cottonwood field is to take signs and post them outside of our field limits on the trails that lead in to the field. Tied to the signs are Air horns, on the sign in gigantic letters it instructs them that we are having an Airsoft skirmish and to blow the horns if they need to get through the field. We have had a few people come and use them to get by, one couple on horseback thanked us because the paintballers that come down and play just kept shooting while they were trying to cross the field! Needless to say the paintballers haven’t been back. Being that the land that we play on is privatly owned we kinda ran em off, it feels good to know the owners sometimes! But as a safety precaution this is a  nice way to cover trails that people might be traveling on. [smilie=armata_pdt_34.gif]

Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to explain how we do things at my field to make sure that if I post a game it doesn't get flagged! Btw nice post Exarach! [smilie=armata_pdt_06.gif]

I would like to buy the Mic, I will be in Phoenix on Thursday unless you would be cool with shipping it. Up to Cottonwood, in which case I'll send you the cash in the mail.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Re: Exploding batteries?
« on: February 26, 2011, 04:02:07 AM »
Sorry for the late post, but my insomnia is getting the better of me! Anyways...sounds like that was pretty scary! I don't run lipos on any of my guns yet, but I did have a so called purple "Smart Charger" that I no longer use to charge my guns. My reason, I had my 12v werker battery hooked up to it. Normally it is supposed to turn off and it is charged. I walked in my living room the next morning and I heard a sssszzzsssssss noise coming from my battery! I noticed that it had split the casing and was leaking acid everywhere! After throwing the charger away I went back to ACE and got a refund and bought a new battery. Lesson learned NEVER USE THE PURPLE CHARGER!!!!! [smilie=armata_pdt_02.gif]

Lucky me they replaced it because I needed my stubby killer for the skirmish I was having with my team! Sadly the guy I bought it from lied to me and it didn’t actually have upgraded gears. Just the motor! So of coarse, my luck during the game my gears became shitstormed! [smilie=armata_pdt_19.gif]

Hey guys, I wanted to make a sort of formal apology. I know now that when I first came to this site I was probably one of the biggest if not the biggest newbs on here. I made rants about some “products” that I made in my garage. Haha! Although I do take credit for making the first extended mag for the Hi cappa! I really didn’t realize at the time that I was making a bad reputation for not only me but my teammates as well. I regret it, mainly because I’ve had more than one team that I wanted to have a skirmish with reject us because of the bad reputation that I had caused. And also some of you were just trying to get me to see what I was doing.

I have taken a pretty long break from playing Airsoft and posting on here, just recently I decided to come on here and see what has been going on lately. I signed on to my profile and the first thing I decided to click was my posts. I started to read through all of my old posts and realized how much of a chairsofter I was being!  I want to start new and make some great friends instead of trying to be “cool”.

Anyways to the Airsofting community I’m sorry, and I apologize. [smilie=armata_pdt_06.gif]

Sincerely,

Keny

I can't wait to see lesnar hit carwin with those 15lb sledge hammers hahahahahah I think I'm the only one here who has some faith in him! I hated that GSP just rolled on the ground for like half an hour! Hardy really showed some pain resistance with those arm bars, bet his arm is killing him right now hahahaha!

I don't see you doing much Airsoft doc, No offence but it seems like you just bash people on here more than anything. I don't know why you feel like you have to bash me and my team mates but it's getting kind of childish. Don't down on Avenged Sevenfold man that’s not cool. The Rev was and still is one of the best drummers ever.
