Title: AUGUST 13th-15th 2010 OP: Hornet's Nest in Payson AZ UPDATED
Post by: Nil8r on June 30, 2010, 05:03:25 PM
UPDATED AS OF AUGUST 12th 2010

When: Friday, August 13th, Saturday, August 14th, & Sunday, August 15th

Where: Sharp Creek Campground, Manzanita Group Camping Site (Site #1)
According to Google Maps, the AO is 104 miles from Gearbox Airsoft, an approximate 2 hour drive. We've been to the area and believe any “regular” car can make it to the camping area easily.  The site features well maintained dirt roads once you pull off of highway 260, all of the way until you stop at the paved parking area.

Price: $50.00 per player, 75 player limit (35 players on green team, 35 players on tan, 5 player/staff)

AGE Limit: This event will be 18 and over. We know we have many underage players that would like to attend, but unfortunately this is out of our hands for the time being. Hopefully we can accommodate you guys in the near future at other events.

FPS Limits: 375fps w/ .25g for Full/Semi Auto, 525fps w/ .25g for Bolt Action/Single Shot Models
UPDATED NOTE: Apparently, there has been a bit of a misunderstanding of what types of weapons fall into the "Bolt Action/Single Shot Model" category listed above, so I'll do my best to provide some examples. A weapon allowed to shoot at 525fps w/ a .25g BB  MUST only be able to shoot one shot per cycle before having to reset the action, as in a bolt action sniper rifle, or a single shot pump-action style shotgun. Semi Automatic is not in this category, regardless of modifications made to the weapon. A Tokyo Marui PSG-1, A Classic Army or other SR-25, a DMR, or an M14 is still an AEG and semi automatic, falling under the 375fps w/.25g rules, not the higher fps. Marksman/Sniper Rifles will be limited to 1 per squad, as they will be of limited use due to the terrain of the field. Contact Ron if you have further questions regarding fps limits. Sorry if this caused any confusion.

Uniform Requirements: Any variation of  green uniform vs. Any variation of Tan uniform (NOTE: For this event, Multicam will be considered part of the Green Team, ACU/UCP will be considered part of the Tan Team.) This has been changed from the original statement, due to player/staff comments and based on the actual field terrain. Please make note of the changes and plan accordingly.

35 Players Per Team (3 Squads of 10 Players, 3 player/advisors, 2 additional people to be used as their team sees fit. Either add them to a squad for additional support, create a command element, or as a recon/sniper team)

NOTE: Uniform requirements refers to the color of the clothing only, and does not reflect the color of gear worn with the uniform. Headgear (ball caps, helmets, boonies, etc.) must match the uniform color, not the gear color.

EXAMPLE: If you're on the green team, wearing woodland BDUs, your cover/hat/helmet must also be green. Want to wear coyote tan gear with it? You're still on the green team. Call or email Gearbox Airsoft if you have any questions regarding uniforms.

Included in the price of admission:
Friday Night Raffle Prizes to Early Registrants (Available to people that arrive and set up between 2pm - 7pm)
Saturday Morning Breakfast Before Deployment
One Full Day of Intense Airsoft Action (Featuring multiple scenarios that can alter events and cause repercussions throughout the day. Plan on being in the field no less than 8 hours at a time, so plan accordingly. Also, please remember to pack your own lunch to eat during the day, as the staff will not be providing lunch on the field.)
Saturday Night Dinner (Burgers, hot dogs, and potatoes will be served. People with allergies, special needs, etc. will need to be email Ron for additional details.)
Saturday Night Game (If enough interest from players)
Access to Medium GP Tent in the Campground for fun and revelry after the day of events
Sunday Morning Breakfast Before Deployment
Sunday Morning Scenarios that run until the afternoon
Sunday End-Of-Event Raffle
Possibly a couple of other small surprises!

So if we already paid for Ron's game we can go back to gearbox and get $10 dollars of the prepaid price?

The MTT $10 discount for OP: Zombie Hunter can be used for the prepaid price.  This would lower the admission to $30 for the game on the 21st.  Those who have signed up and have paid for OP: Hornet's Nest can prepay for Zombie Hunter any time before August 20.

As far as I know its 18+ only, I would guess that the only exception would be if one of the game planners personally invited the person and then got the ok from Nil8r.

And Ill be honest, I dont want to spend 3 days with with a bunch of kids that I dont know.

call up gearbox, ron is hosting the even so i am sure he can work something out with you..

and i second rogue fox on the point that it's a multi day adventure, i don't want to be stuck with a bunch of children regardless if i know them or not.. 18+ usually means 18+ only, and for multiple reasons not limited to but including liability issues.

As you can see from the photos, there is not too much overhead shade in the parking/camp area.  It would be advisable to bring an ez-up for shade if you have one, just in case.

Just a heads up...

We will be giving out several prizes, including free admissions to MTT's Operation: Blackout August 28th for all players who attend Hornets Nest. Also if you sign up for the MTT newsletter, we will enter you into a raffle for a free admission to the Big Game December 19th, where we plan on giving away over $2,000 in prizes. Check the MTT Forum (www.marauders.us (http://www.marauders.us)) for more information.

For those of you who may have a gun go down during the event and can't find a replacement AEG/ fix the problem, MTT will have M4 Rentals available for $10 (battery included), but you must provide your own mags.

We will have BBs for sale $20 for 5000 count .25 BBs, or $5 for 1000 count .25 BBs.

Also, we will have a selection of Condor Tactical Gear (Mostly Tan) available for purchase (camelbacks, chest rigs, rifle slings, dump pouches, magazine pouches, shemaghs, etc...).

Cash only.

Thanks and see you at the game!

Victor

Good game all, glad to see you all out there.  Let me just be the first to say (on the forums):  Stupid hill.  I still enjoyed it though.

Also, on the SLIM chance someone found it, I'm missing the black plastic cover for the doctor sight on my ACOG.

All I took were some random shots around HQ during lunch and what not.  Pictures are here: http://photos.xaviermace.com/GalleryThumbnails.aspx?gallery=393092

My favorite:

I think that explains the troop deployment completely.

It's been awhile since I've been out to an op and this one was brutal. But I was smiling at the end. (Just not the begining. Damn hill) Thanks to all that out on such a classy event. I was really impressed by the organization and planning that went into everything. How was Sunday's game? I didn't stay for it but that all fine and well, Saturday's tore me up.

Somebody on tan got some glue stuck on their finger but other than that it was still very enjoyable.
