That thing would be useless from an observational standpoint, you wouldn't get your moneys worth

if people were on board with this idea to the fullest it would posibly work out to get the loot but most people think its stupid...i guess ill just have to save the 8500 if we wanted the draganfly system out there on the field... ](*,)  ](*,)

The only reason I would use it, would be for fire support, as much as observation counts, it won't provide me or a team very effective support, yes intel on finding where the enemy is, is great, but once someone shoots the UAV down (which from what we have all viewed, that almost everyone here would shoot it down     ) I would rather perfer a mobile unmanned gun that can take alot of hits, and still be able to use it later in other ops. (Thats unless how D.RICH said "its open for real damage from haters!!!" then yeah I wouldnt use it at all)

Jesus Christ, here we go with the I'M GONNA SHOOT IT LIKE A RETARD IDEAS AGAIN.....
Sigh,
It wouldn't be stationary for one, and 2 it would be HIGH UP, even if you shot at it gravity would have its course, and if it impacted the aircraft it would be like flicking it with your finger at most, now stop with that S**T seriously, that's what got this thread locked last time

THANK YOU hiRez!!!! exactly and well said...its wouldnt be able to be shot down...even if you can hit it which would be unlikely it wouldnt come bursting out of the sky in a wonderful fireball no matter how bad you guys, who would want that, want that... :D/

Hahahahahahaha Im just stating, I really don't have the temptation to shoot it, now if I did, just to piss you off I would just bring a rifle that does shoot bullets and just have fun at it, but scince I have respect for what you are making I think it would be cool to see a UAV in the sky, I think it would ad more realism, and make a firefight more intense.

exactly thats all i would be tring to add to the game..not a advantage for either team cuz both would be able to see with the lcd screens...i have 2 of them....but some extra realism to the sport...as was my argument with the thunder b grenades...

Indeed, the one of the few things that make airsoft great is realism, personally why don't we just build a APC and have a great with that hahahaha

You're gonna be less than impressed with most COTS airframes.  COTS airframes that would be a good start will probably more expensive than doing it yourself.

Do you have any background in doing composite or fiberglass layups?  Vacuum bagging?  Working with foam?  Basic balsa construction?

It's really not that hard if you have time and money to practice it.

Doing airframe development for RPVs and UAVs in the past, we always went with some semblance of a twin boom, pusher design.  It allowed for an unobstructed camera view 360° out the front to supplement a dedicated downward facing camera.

The pusher design helps isolate vibration towards the rear of the airframe providing for a better picture from the camera, no prop shadow, minimized signal noise, etc, etc.

Use a flat bottom or semi symetrical airfoil (pick your favorite Eppler), build a Hershey bar wing, and use plenty of dihedral.  You'll be gtg.

YMMV.

BTW, it's infinitely more likely that you will crash the aircraft before it is shot down by airsoft ground fire.
