General Off-Topic Discussion / Summer etiquette
« on: July 08, 2013, 04:47:55 PM »
Listen up everybody.  Every summer we get a rash of stupid posts and problem users.  Typically this is the younger crowd on summer break.  However, so far the only people I've seen causing issues are adults old enough to be my dad.  I'm not going to name names (you know who you are), but you people need to start acting your fucking age.  If you have a problem with somebody either take it to PM's or take it offline.  This calling people out at every opportunity and giving people shit because they have different preferences then you is going to stop or you can find some other forum.

In case you aren't clear on what I'm talking about....  If what they are suggesting isn't illegal/dangerous and they didn't ask for your opinion, I don't fucking care what your opinion is on it. I don't care if you don't like meme's, pictures, bronies, swearing, or Vanguard.  If it's not illegal/dangerous, keep your mouth shut.  If you feel it's just so incredibly stupid that something has to be done, use that handy report post button and leave it at that.  I have better things to do then come on here and delete threads because people can't act like adults.

I've got a few more items for sale.  The ONLY trade I am interested in is for a G&G Sig 550.  No one under 18.  Can meet at former Gearbox location, Vanguard, or anywhere in between evenings after 7p or weekends.

5. 2x KWC Sigma SW40F - $100 for everything

The two tone one is an original V1 model and the black one is an early V2.  These still have the two piece triggers rather than the solid 1 piece triggers the newer ones have.  These were also pre-FPS reduction models.  Shoot roughly 450fps at room temperature with the Co2 mags, although I've chrono'd them as high as 520fps in the summer after sitting the trunk for 30 minutes.  I've also used them in snow games and they functioned perfectly.  They chrono about 350fps with the Green Gas mags.  There's a total of 2 green gas mags and 8 Co2 mags.  The black gun's slide is badly marred on the right side, I'd recommend either repainting it or sanding the whole slide.  The green gas mag in the two tone needs a new fill valve.  Mags MAY need new seals.

Services
I do computer upgrades, repairs, and maintenance as well as general consulting.  A+/Network+ with over 10 years experience with both home and office setups, workstations and servers.  I've built everything from $300 Shuttle PC's to $4,000 Gaming PC's, to $10,000 servers.  Only available on Friday's and Saturday's.  Willing to travel in East Valley depending on job.  PM me to discuss.

Goods
You know how when you clean out a couch you always find money in there?  That's how my whole house is only you find electronics instead of money.  Everything below is for sale as-is.  Everything worked the last time I used it (unless otherwise mentioned), but some of it has probably been sitting around for over 5 years.  I'm not going to take the time to test any of it, save for the servers.  If you want to test it, I've got keyboard/mouse/monitor/Power Cables you can use for testing but you'd have to supply any other necessary components.  Expect normal wear and tear for systems that have been laying around for years (scratches, etc).

Systems do not include OS's unless otherwise mentioned.  I will be happy to do free basic installs of Ubuntu on the home computers, VMWare on the servers, FreeNAS on the storage.  I will do basic installs of Windows for free on any of the systems, but you must provide a product key.  If you need assistance with post install setup, please PM to discuss.  All prices are best offer unless otherwise noted.  I will not drive anywhere unless you are buying at least $200 worth of stuff.  I will not deliver the rack under any circumstances.  I'm happy to do package deals if you're buying multiple higher end items.  PM me if you want more details on any items.

Dealers/Techs / How do I post here and how does it work?
« on: November 28, 2012, 10:01:14 PM »
Send me a PM detailing what goods/services you offer.  As long as you can show you are a dealer (meaning have a wholesaler account somewhere), manufacturer (meaning you are selling custom goods) or an established tech, you will be granted access to this board.  Only members of the above categories can post in this section.  Regular members can only read the posts in this section, not reply.  This allows you to post you goods without it getting lost in the clutter.  In addition, the normal 1 week bump rule doesn't apply (within reason).

Thanks.

Site Suggestions / Life on AirsoftArizona
« on: November 27, 2012, 08:25:43 PM »
Alright, listen up people.  I'm getting an ever increasing number of complaints (PM's, emails, I've even gotten fucking phone calls) from people about other people and how they feel slighted, yada yada yada, not to mention threads I've seen that made me want to punch the person making the posts.  I initially chalked it up to the normal summer build up but it hasn't let up and summer is long gone.  AirsoftArizona has always been pretty relaxed on how people behave but some people are taking it too far, doing it far too often, and doing it in completely inappropriate threads.  I'm not going to make everybody hold hands and sing kumbaya but am I going to start making some people behave.  First off, lets start with some tips/pointers.

Younger crowd (meaning primarily under 18):  If you join these forums and immediately start talking about how much you know about SpecialOps, the military, etc, and your entire family are green berets, etc, you WILL get ridiculed.  Period.  You've managed to annoy the majority of the forum in a single post.  I'll stop it if I feel it gets out of hand but you brought it on yourself.  I know you were probably raised to think you aren't responsible for anything but that's not the way I roll.  If you want to be treated with respect, treat others with respect and don't start demanding it.  You don't demand respect, you earn it.  I get that you want to start a team, more power to you.  But there's a good number of people on this forum who have and/or are serving in our armed forces who feel you are disrespecting them by trying to start your airsoft "SpecOps" team.  You aren't going to convince people you are awesome by telling them how awesome you think you are.  You are just going to make them think you are a douche bag.  Lastly, if you go off on a profanity laced rage fest you will be taking a vacation from the forums.

Vet crowd (meaning longer term members of the forum): These days I'm seeing some of you behave worse than the children, including some of you old enough to be MY dad.  Act your fucking age.  Knowing how kids are raised these days, I'm willing to cut them a little more slack since some of them honestly probably don't know better.  However, I know that's not the case with you.  Yes, occasionally somebody will say something that simply needs to be ridiculed a bit.  There's a limit to that in general but when that's the majority of your posting, you need to stop posting.

Teams:  I'm a very competitive person myself, and I get team loyalty.  But when your team "loyalty" turns into open unprovoked attacks on other teams/players, that's unacceptable.  I don't care that they've insulted your honor or whatever they've done in the past.  Either resolve it by PM or keep it to yourself.  Once again, act your fucking age.  In addition on the forums, your team affiliation doesn't mean shit to me.  You will be treated the same way as anybody else, regardless of your affiliation.  If someone slights a member of your team, that does not give your entire team free reign to retaliate.  Some of you have basically adopted a gang mentality when it comes to your team and it needs to stop.

With all that said, people need to grow a thicker skin.  I've been getting complaints about the slightest possible insult.  When I read the post in question and I'm not even sure they are trying to insult you but you are complaining to me, you need to get over it.  In addition, most of the time, you probably had it coming.  As you can tell by my language, I'm not asking you to keep things PG rated or saying you can't say anything negative.

What does this all mean?  Unless what you posted was WAY out of line, you'll get a warning and points against your account.  If your account reaches a certain number of points, it will automatically be temporarily banned.  Those points do go away over time automatically.  However, when I (and any other admin/moderator) look at your account, I can immediately see a list of your past warnings.  Some people on here have already received half a dozen warnings for doing the same thing.  When you get a temp ban, it will tell you why you were banned when you try to log in.  If your behavior continues after a temp ban, you will be permanently banned.  I know a lot of you think you are smart and know ways around a ban.  I've been doing this a long time and have a pretty reliable gut feeling when it comes to this sort of thing.  If I think you created a new account and are continuing the behavior on a new account, I'll ban a new account no questions asked.

Lastly, if you are going to send me a butt hurt email/PM because you think this is directed at you personally, save yourself the time and don't bother.  I have a full time job and when I am getting emails while at work because I have to get on here and play babysitter it puts me in a cranky mood.

Site Suggestions / Why was I banned?
« on: November 10, 2012, 09:58:01 AM »
Since this comes up on a fairly regular basis, I decided maybe I could reduce the number of PM's by trying to give an explanation.  Permanent bans are not something we do terribly often.  You either had to really cross a line or continue to do something after repeated warnings to stop.  Temporary bans are more common.  I personally use those to try to get somebodies attention, a slap on the wrist if you will.  However in both cases when I am issuing the ban, I give a reason why and that reason will appear to you when you try to log in.  In most situations I think you can figure out what you did that earned you the ban.

However, occasionally you will try to log in and get a message that you were banned that either doesn't have a reason or you don't recall doing anything matching the reason.  This is the result of an IP ban.  For those unfamiliar with how IP addresses work, I will explain.  Every device connected to the internet has an IP address.  In most cases, that IP address is assigned by your service provider.  In most cases however, that IP address isn't dedicated or static.  Meaning that IP address doesn't always stay the same and it's not only used by you.  IP addresses on land line connections don't change terribly often.  IP addresses on cell phones change much more often.  If you get a ban notification that you are pretty confident you didn't earn, then you've probably been assigned an IP address that has been banned.  You have three options in this case.

1.  Call your service provider and ask if you can been assigned a new IP address.
2.  Wait for your IP address to change.  On a phone, this should only take a couple of days at most.
3.  Use a different connection.

Hopefully that answers some questions.

Other items for sale... / XavierMace's Summer Electronics Clean Out
« on: August 07, 2012, 01:05:25 AM »
How do you know you are a geek.  When you clean your closet and find computers you forgot you had.

Pictures and more items will be up tomorrow.

The rules.
For anything under $100, you come to me in Mesa.  I'm available weeknights after 7p or weekends with advanced notice.  I'm not going to drive anywhere to sell $20 worth of stuff.  Prices are flexible to some extent, some items more than others.  If you are buying one or more of the higher dollar items, I'm willing to cut you a deal.  Over $100, I'm willing to arrange a reasonable meeting place (Anthem or Tucson is not reasonable).  Any questions will be handled via PM, I'm not going to start some massive text message conversation.  The 3 complete systems all power on, have fresh OS installs, and I'll be happy to demo for you.  Everything else is sold with no guarantee's.  It worked the last time I used it but in some cases, that was 5 years ago or more.  Items have no physical damage unless noted.  If you want to bring the necessary equipment to test it, I'll be happy to provide you with an outlet, keyboard, mouse, and monitor to test with.  If you don't want to bring the equipment to test it, I'm not tearing apart a functional system to test it for you.  If you have any questions, please ask them BEFORE showing up.

NO TRADES OF ANY KIND.

HP tc4400 Tablet PC (EN356UT#ABA) - $200
Intel Core 2 T5600 1.83Ghz Processor
2Gb DDR2 Ram
60Gb OCZ Agility 3 SSD
Ubuntu 12.04/Windows 8 Release Preview Dual Boot
***  SYSTEM DOES NOT HAVE AN INTERNAL OPTICAL DRIVE ***
If you want to install another OS you will either need to install from a USB thumb drive or get a USB optical drive.  If you bring an OS, I will be happy to install it for you.  Or for a small fee I can download a copy of the original OS (WinXP) and install it from a USB drive using the original CD Key.  Very slight wear on touchpad and left side of laptop where your hands rest.  No cracks/dents/etc of any sort.  You can get an HP docking station used for roughly $40 to give you more connectivity options.

Lenovo M57p Desktop - $200
Intel Core 2 Duo E6800 (I need to double check that)
4Gb of DDR2 Ram
Seagate 320Gb HDD
LiteOn Blu-Ray drive
Ubuntu 12.04
***  Please Note the front drive cover does not work with the Blu-ray drive so it was removed but will be included ***
Makes a fantastic little media center system.  Please note it only accepts low profile (aka half height) expansion cards.

Dell PowerEdge 1600SC Server - $200
Intel Xeon 2.8Ghz Processor
1Gb DDR ECC Ram
36Gb U320 SCSI HDD
Sony DVD+RW
Dell CD-Rom
*** NO OS, but I will install an OS you provide at no charge if requested before hand ***
Older system but runs perfectly fine.  Second/upgrade processors are dirt cheap ($20-$40) and memory is pretty cheap as well.  When it had the second processor and another 1Gb of RAM in it, it was used as a BF2 and Minecraft server.  Makes for a solid file server as well.

EVGA nVidia GTX260 Core 216 - $125
No box/accessories

EVGA nVidia 8800GTX - $75
No box/accessories

ECS 671T-M Motherboard - $30
New in sealed box
Socket 775 (Core 2 Duo/Core 2 Quad)
Might be able to dig up a processor for it around here somewhere for a small extra cost.

Asus A8N-SLI Barebones - $50
AMD Athlon 64 3500+ Processor
2Gb Corsair VS DDR2 Ram
AMD OEM Heatsink/Fan

AMD Athlon 64x2 3600+ - $40

AMD Athlon 64 3000+ - $20
Socket 939, Bare CPU

Logitech G5 Mouse - $20
Works but mouse buttons on occasion stick.

AMD OEM Heatsink/Fan - $5
Works with any of the above Athlon processors

Assorted SATA Cables - $1/ea

Airsoft Equipment Specials / ICS Parts Order
« on: January 30, 2012, 10:54:46 AM »
Alright, I've had a few people contact me recently about some ICS replacement parts and I need a few as well, so it looks like it's time to do an order.  Reply or PM me with what part numbers you need (either from the manual or ICS website) and I'll get back to you with prices as soon as possible.  No complete guns, parts only.  I'll update the below list as more parts are requested.  I'm looking to place the order mid-Feb.  ICS will be shipping the parts roughly however they feel like it so I can't really guarantee a shipping time.  Once they arrive parts can either be picked up at my place in Mesa or we can meet at Gearbox on the weekend.  Prices do not include shipping, but ICS normally just ships via postal so shipping should be pretty cheap.  I won't have a shipping quote until I have a full parts list however.

This isn't being done because it's cheap, it's being done because there's no other way to get these parts.  If the part you want is carried by any of the major retailers, it will be cheaper if you get it from them.

M4 Parts -
  MA-09  Hopup Set         $17
  MA-23  Bolt catch          $7
  MA-51  Selector Assy    $12

L85 Parts -
  ML-08  Switch Set         $20
  ML-18  Motor Cage       $8
  ML-26  Front Body Pin  $3
  ML-27  Rear Body Pin   $3

General Airsoft Discussion / Echo1 booted from Shot Show
« on: January 19, 2012, 07:25:23 PM »
Looks like Cybergun's tired of dicking around with them.  Echo1 was handed a court summons and their booth was shut down today.  Rumor is Cybergun has filed two lawsuits against them (with FN Herstal).  No details beyond that, but Echo1 has removed their Scar's (ASC) from their website.
