Actually Kyle, you may get closer to owning your favorite assault rifle than you think. I hear rumblings that the assault weapon import ban will be gotten around by springfeild putting out hk guns as they used to once the current domestic ban sunsets next year.

The Ban hopefully will sunset next year, but there are those factions (HCI, Violence Policy Ins., Ect.) that are working on getting it continued or replaced with an even stricter version. So EVERYONE need to contact their elected morons.. I mean officals in DC and let them know you Do Not support the continuation or replacement of the Failed "Assualt Weapon Ban"

That G36K sounds sweet, gonna have it at the next game?

Not to hijack this thread, but I'm pretty sure that the AW ban will be renewed (sadly). Bush and Ashcroft have already said they will support and sign it. It's much more difficult to get something off the books once it's already on.

To get back on track, Kyle, will the optics be real, or just cosmetic? To answer your question about quiet, I have a G36 and though it IS quiet, I'd say that the AUG is quieter than the G36.

I am a HK fan as well, so naturally the G36 is part of my collection. Mine is upgraded: aluminum piston w/ bearings, bearing bushings, spring guide with bearings, polycarb piston, and systema high speed gear set. It is pretty quiet as is, but still not quite invisible. With a SOCOM silencer on there, the darn thing sounds REALLY cool. All you hear really is a little bit of the whirr of the motor coupled with the piston hitting... very effective if you're going for quiet. Kinda like "thrrrrr...dunk", not quite the whine and THUD of most other guns. There may also be a little extra room for a little dynamat, but with a silencer, the loudest part is really the motor.

The carry handle I have ordered is the real deal, so the optics are genuine...though that's not saying much. It's only a 1.5X magnification...perfect for airsoft.
The AUG was a quiet gun, too. I don't know which is quieter but this one was quiet enough to really surprise me. I don't yet know if anything else has been done to quiet it internally, though.

(I also don't think the ban will lift, though I know the hope is that the Pres can take a neutral or lightly supportive position while Congress repeals it. Still don't think it's likely. 8 years of straight liberalism has this country convinced that guns cause crime, and that "assault weapons" are used in over 110% of those crimes...tough to overcome public fears and get re-elected at the same time.
back to the topic, though, this thing is really fun. WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

I know that there probably isn't a straight answer to this, but is Marui going to produce a K model? Aside from useless speculation, I thought I saw mention of a Marui produced G36K on Arnie's a while ago.

My best guess is that Marui will make at least three versions of the G36. They do it will ALL their guns.

Soon, my thieving friend, soon. I may actually cancel the order for the real carry handle. I put my real Aimpoint on it today and I love it. It's zeroed and quick. Have to play around some more but I like it this way more than I thought I would...

I got my new beautiful baby girl yesterday and she's pretty sweet. It's a G36C which was built into a K using real steel HK factory parts. The foregrip and stock are the correct K lengths, and the carry handle assembly was just ordered and will be here in about a week. It came with 6 standard mags and "the workmanship thereof is exceeding fine." The mags are solid and function perfectly, and the effect of the fake ammo inside is very well done. I know this is essentially no different from a "C" version, but few reviews have been done here on them beyond "I like mine." The gun itself is stock except for a TN inner barrel, so distance and FPS are standard, but the consistency is excellent and the ROF is very admirable. The batteries (2) are custom 9.6 jobs and put out plenty of juice. The most surprising aspect of this gun is how quiet it is. I haven't fired a stock C, so you C owners might add your thoughts here, but this is the most quiet AEG I have ever fired by a long shot. On semi auto I can seriously expect to take potshots at players without them being able to vector in on my position. On full auto, it's audible, of course, but still much quieter.
The C itself was already a solid gun, perhaps Marui's best "plastic" gun to date, but I was a little nervous about the feel and fit of the real steel add-ons. Mods were needed to make them fit properly, but the mods were well done and the fit is tight. The overall effect of this gun will be hard for Marui to improve upon when they finally release their own K version. I paid for this one out of impatience but also to get the greater quality of the real parts. I know a thing or two about injection molding, and the real HK factory parts are much more durable than anything else in airsoft. I am also an HK fan of many years and this is as close as I'll ever get to owning my favorite assault rifle, so the more "real" I can make it, the better!
In the end, I'm very happy with the purchase. It is what I was hoping for and more. I'll save my customary paintjob for the future Marui version and leave these real parts black, but that's about all I'd wish to do to this thing. I love it.
