www.airsoftplayers.com has gearbox tutorials.  Or you could try to figure it out, which is more fun!

Do check out the link azsarge listed.I upgraded my mp5...it was a cakewalk.Don't be afraid to crack open the gearbox.Theres really nothing to the internals of airsoft guns. They are all similar.Take your time and look at the pictures carefully...you should'nt have a problem.[:)]

Get a bigger battery too.  That 600mah mini battery won't last long.

Yeah.  A cake walk.  You want to try and put my M4 back together?  The gearbox was a "cake walk" to take apart...but those manuals on airsoftplayers.com are all in freaking Japanese and I can't read that stuff.  How the freak does one go about putting a gearbox back together?  I also looked at arniesairsoft.com and looked at the article on disassembling a TM mechbox and the freaking other pages to the thing won't load like they're no longer there.  Why didn't anybody tell me to let a freaking professional handle the mother?  Now I'm mad.  Good thing I have a few other weapons to shoot with, or I'd really be pissed.

now, now, don't get pissy. The first time I opened my mp5s gearbox I thought the same thing.Yes they're not in english but LOOK AT THE PICTURES CAREFULLY.You can see which way the parts go in,what goes in first, etc. The hardest part is the spring...it wants to pop out when you put it back in,then it causes everything else to move on you.Put the spring into the piston last, after everything else is lined up.Push it in with the spring guide, stick a screwdriver in the end of the guide and push down on it.This will hold it in place and it won't pop out as you try to put the cover back on.Place the cover on while still applying pressure with the screwdriver...keep pressing down until the cover is back on with a few screws in.Once you got them in your home free.I FULLY upgraded my gun,the first time I took it apart.Ive never worked on a airsoft gun before that.C'mon MARINE,YOU CAN DO THIS!Hope I helped you out.

If you go to the main page and click on the reviews link you'll find one that I did on my M16 commando.  There's lots of detailed pictures in there that should help you out.

How to change TM M4A1 spring...?
« Reply #7 on: September 13, 2003, 03:21:48 PM »
Hey, I'm new and I was wondering if anybody knows of any site or old post that instucts how to change the spring in an M4A1 (Any TM M16 version weapon is the same think, right?).  I need to know because I bought my M4 from airsoftshop.com with the 400 fps upgrade and the large spring drains the battery a whole bunch and it's too hot for CQB (which is the only type of game in Memphis right now).  If you don't know how to change a spring, what are some good upgrades that would help the battery last longer with constant fire besides the 12v battery upgrade for the M4A1 because I might just keep it as a sniper weapon for when I play jungle type games.  All that was upgrade/changed on the weapon by airsoftshop.com was the spring, the bushings, and the fuse was taken out completely (which might be why the battery goes dead after a few bursts...but I don't really know).  Thanks for reading all of this.  That is all.
