The hex/allen SCREW, rather.

(I knew what you meant Joe, but he may not have)[:)])

It could be the selector plate, but it could also be the switch.  Take it down and give it a once-over.

I striped the gun down and cant find anything out of the ordinary. Then agian, its the first time I have striped it down and I dont know what im looking for. I also tightened that Hex/allen screw at the bottom of the switches on the outside of the gun, that did nothing. Again thanks for the help, any more sugestions would be great.

Let's start with the basics, was it working when you bought it?  Did you buy it new or used?  If used, did the previous owner take it apart that you know of?  The selector switch on the G36 is a rachet style switch.  If the tappet plate is not aligned with the selector switch gears properly it may be causing your problem.

I bought it new But I did not realize how tight it was suppose to be till i felt my freinds G36C, selector switch, so it could just be defective. I currently have the gun a part and have been trying different things to see if i could get it to work better. HOw do i know where and how to align the gears?

You never should have taken it apart if you dont know what you are doing.  It doesnt matter how the gears align.  Good luck with your gear box.

I did not take the gear box apart. I found the problem talking to Kamikazi. The ball bearing in the outer selector switch is missing. Anyone know were to get a new one?

Like I mentioned above, I thought it might have been the switch.  I wasn't sure if the G36 has a similar switch to the m4, so I wasn't going to give any advice.[:P]

About the missing piece, you can make another from metal rod available from ACE, or a local hobby shop.  Take a look at your buddies to get an idea, and recreate it.  I had to do this for my M4 selector switch.  It takes about 15 minutes to fix, a bit more if you're not sure what to do.  I used aluminum rod as it is soft and easy to work with.  Start with a rod the same diameter as the largest part of the missing piece.  File it down to look like the original.  It's just a quick fix, and will hold you off until you can find a replacement, but don't just do this and leave it.  The aluminum wears down quickly.

Heres a pic of the selector gear alignment:

Well, today i fixed it My selctor switch so it works and clicks in each position. First I found a spring from an Old springer pistol i had. But the spring was just bearly bigger then the hole it had to go into, so i Bored the hole out. Then i spend the rest of the day sanding down a peice of plastic till it fit and worked. A lot of work. I wish i could find a place that just sales the left selector switch with spring in it. Anyone Know of a Place other then Den, they are out? Thanks again AZSarge.

Possibly a Broken selector

I have a G36C, and i can figure out what the problem is with the selector switch. It moves smothly with out clicking to semi and then to full auto. You know how if it is working correctly it will stop on semi and then stop on full auto. And some times it does not fire in semi. Any one have any suggestions that will help. Or do i need to by a new selector plate.
