Hey guys!
« on: January 10, 2010, 07:38:16 PM »
Hey everyone. I just started to get into airsoft. I've been playing paintball for the past 2 years but i started to get out of it because its not realistic enough for me.

Anyways right now im looking for a good gun within the 225$ margin. I am 14 years old and i hope to join a team as soon as i start to get more familiar with the game.

I do have a few questions though just because paintball is a totally different sport in a way when it comes to rules. Now my question is how do you eliminate a player? Is it 1 hit kill or is it until the other person surrenders.

Right now i have an MP5 and im hoping to maybe get a ECHO 1 MOD4 CQB AEG Airsoft Rifle.

hope to get more familiar with the game!

sincerely,

Vanilla

welcome to AA first off.

to answer you question about elimination, a player is eliminated by getting hit with a BB but it is your responsibility to call your hit and remove your self from the game or walk back to a re spawn point. Airsoft stops being fun when people aren't calling their shots.

Now how a player goes about eliminating another player depends entirely on the scenario. Most games require you to call your hit if your hit any where on the body, other scenarios may call a body / head shot an elimination. its all up to the planners of the scenario your at.

As a safety note: most of the games being held in Arizona along with the rest of the nation require your weapon system to produce no more then one joule of energy (for AEGs), which at the chrono is roughly 400 feet per second with a bb that weighs 0.20 grams.

about your choice in AEG, id recommend echo 1. i play an echo 1 SCAR-L and i love it!

Again, welcome to AA

That is incorrect.  For AEG's, AA rules allow a maximum of 400fps with a 0.20 gram bb which is 1.48 joules. Various National Ops can widely range on fps rules depending on the organizer and type of AO. As an example, last years LionClaws fps rules for a green condition, meaning you meet or are below the desired fps level, was the following: 366fps with a 0.25gram bb which is 1.55 joules.

For anyone wanting to further their education in this area I recommend the following website; http://www.arniesairsoft.co.uk/articles ... s_calc.htm

+1 on the 400fps being over 1J.
328fps with a .20g bb is about 1J, iirc.

thank you very much. yeah ive been looking in the echo 1 section on shortyusa and airsoftgi.
I have an offer right now for 95 bucks for an M4 with the mags and the bipod.
and as it comes to the rules im pretty sure that since there is a lot of military guys they will be honest about their shots instead of the paintballers which is always constant drama.

I'd also recommend an echo 1 as a beginner's gun. The SCAR's are nice, but a little out of the 225 price range.

Actually on airsoftgi.com under echo 1 full metal aegs brand new are going for 220. but i am probably going to buy this Echo 1 full metal M4 RIS with 3 wind up mags, the battery and charger for 95 used.

Awesome! they had a price drop. :D  I may have to get one.

Sounds like a good deal, especially if that's a smart charger and not the regular chargers. You might find that you don't like hi-caps though... that's a lot of ammo to fill 3 of them. But, after only spending 95 on the setup, you can get accessories and mags and stuff to make it how you want it and still be in your price range. :D

its pretty hard to find many games for people under that age of 18, specially being a new guy in the community. your pretty much limited to commercial fields simply because of a sue happy society these days. id check out fighter town paintball, they allow minors after your parent signs a waiver. after you make nice with some of the people in the community and prove your maturity (as soo many minors claim to have) you might get invited to private games.
