that is true with any kit, reguardless of how you carry it. If you practice enough, you get efficient with it.

Very true.

For the entire time that I have been playing airsoft, I have used neither PALS nor ALICE.  I have always used the genuine GI issue WWII-Korea era field gear with the bent wire clips that attach through the holes in the bottom of the utility belt. I am probalby the only person I know that has  this setup in the field, (and literally not in a musem) :) But for the years that I have been using it, I gave grown used to its style of organization and am able to work very efectively with it. I a can unholster my .45 from my leather flap holster just as quick as my buddy can unbutton and pull his beretta from his leg holster.

Like it was stated, its all individual preference, not universal efficiency. Some PALS setups dont neccitate the ability to carry canteens, Whilst some ALICE setups can limit the amount of mags that one can carry, and both of these necessities are equally indespensible in the field. Its really only about what each person perfers is most suited for themselves.

Its better and more efficient to carry a Camelbak though, it keeps the weight more balanced, and you can fit like, 8 canteens in the space of 3...

...And it also doesn't hurt when you fall on your Camelbak, Platypus, etc..

Falling on a aluminum/steel old school G.I. canteen puts a dent in yer pelvis.

p.s. M-79, I wish I had one of those old .45 holsters still.  :(

I know that pain first hand.
I used to carry two of the aluminum ones on my M1 belt, and after a few trips I took off the one on my right side, because it seemed that I using that side to brace my fall.

Its also kind of difficult to sit down with a 12 inch M1 bayonete hanging off of my gear, but I dont really notice it when Im in gameplay. It comes in handy for things like cuting foliage and such. I also once used it as a can opener when I was really hungry at one game.

I love my flap holster, and I would perfer it over anything else. I think a company still makes reproductions for around $30. I have the brown leather model, which has much more rigid stitching and construction. There is also the black leather late WWII and vietnam model.

I had a question. I've had a few people say that Malice clips suck. I love the damn things. Does anyone have a reason why they might not be worthy of being used?

I like the idea.  I've never used them, but I've seen kits held together by MALICE and I think they're neat.

The only thing I can think of is that they are not permanently attached to the gear.  This is offset by the fact that they are dirt cheap and replaceable.

They are a pain in the ass to use..and sometimes that BLOCK on the end of the clip that is supposed to stay under or above the last row of webbing can get under it and the pouch can move.. Id rather have the paraclete system...or the same kind DBT and BHI uses.

Yep, owned a couple..And I liked the little attachment dealio..I heard Matt call it the "SOF SNAP" once..but I don't see where the snap is.. They were alot easier to get in and out of the webbing especially with the pull loops and being more flexible than most of the attachment systems I have used(a whole big 4 or so).

Paraclete refers to their attachment system as the SOF snap.

FWIW, I dislike the BattleLab attachment system.  Well, not so much the design, but rather the plastic they used in the button straps.  Too stiff to be woven easily like Eagle and BPGs stuff.

The new TAG system looks neat, I'd love to check out some of their stuff.

I noticed it is really stiff, but then again, you need 14 levels of pouch to kit retention too! ;)

I haven't checked the TAG stuff out, care to fill me in? I found weaving stuff with the BLCS pouches left the straps bent after once or twice..Kinda an upset.. I thought the BHI stuff was a b|tch to weave.

Paige from DBT mentioned soething about a new attachment system for BattleLabs upcoming line.  Whether or not that means a new design or just new materials I don't know.

Im partial to the alice only since that is what I used while serving(Yea Showing my age) but Im willing to evolve to the pals gear if it is more comfortable and Usefull.  Just learning all the new Jargon is kinda slow after all the years as a civilian!!!!

That's a good attitude to have regarding kit, and will lead to you finding something truly useful, no matter your weapon or playing style.

i never served...matter of fact my favorite alice pattern is m-56 standard utility equpment. The only people that would have worn that are in thier late 50's or 60s by now and mostly Vietnam veterans. simple, heavy duty canvas, a charming shade of green, no frills, durability like you cant even imagine and historical value all wrapped into one kit. ;) ...its fantastic....
