While this is a good idea for those on a run. Gearbox charges a flat 30$ fix plus parts

I don't know. 10 bucks an hour?.... Its just going to rack up the same cost as gearbox if not more. I like how gearbox is just a flat 30 bucks and it may even take them hours. Anyway could someone in this situation could do one of two things. (not focusing you) but someone could be considerate and do the job fast to keep the cost down but the work wont be very good because its at a fast pace and mistakes can be made. Or someone could take their sweet time with it and make a lot of money off it but mistakes will probably not happen as often. The work may be better like that but i think flat rates are better for airsoft repair.

well i have done about 20 jobs now and even with a full rebuild and tune it took only 2 hoursand i have got emails from this guy as a follow up saying it still works great. one thing i can do is work with someone to see what they want done give to choice of geting good or cheap parts and giveing a wide selection of what to get. and just one question when you take your guns to gearbox and say you needed a new gear set do they chose it or do they let you pick the ones you want? also with what you said i am a big airsofter and dont want to steal your money. partly i want to try and find other airsofters in my area as well so its not all about the money.

if you take a set of gears (or have them order them) into gearbox with your gun, they will put those parts in.

On a side note, a full rebuild is much, much faster than anything along the lines of a tricky diagnose/repair.

AMEN. +9000.

I have spent numerous hours searching for a fix, only to have it come out again later. AS guns are a tricky business. However, more often than not, I can find the problem instantly, and fix it. Its those little ones that nag you for hours that are the killer.

Such as my most recent issue... a worn out tappet plate return spring. lol. Took forever to find... it was still pushing the nozzle forward, just not enough to load bb's through the bucking if my mag was full...

Still, as far as labor rates are concerned, $10/hr is pretty cheap. I made more than that working for mcd's when I was 16.

sorry but i find them easly with a system i have set up it basicly is a checklist and i have never taken more than 4 housr to find and fix something. that 4 hour one was a loud grinding and i had to use a special order clear high stranth poly gearbox to see the s120 spring was not seting on the guide after it would fire. i had to cut a sliver off the spring so it would work right. that has been the most challenging.
