I havent bought a pair of boots in ages... how did the sizes of these boots match up to sneaker sizing? Meaning, is a size 11 in sneakers a size 11 in these boots?

The short answer is YES.
When buying my WELLCO boots from Practical Tactical, I noticed that almost every pair of shoes I had was a different size. My athletic shoes were 14-14.5, my sandals were 12, my hiking boots were 13, you get the idea.
The thing that helped me was that all combat boots will be similarly sized, unless otherwise noted. Go to a surplus store, and try on some Altamas or other boots, and see what fits. Then go ahead and order that size. In the slim chance they don't fit, most retailers have a return policy for ill-fitting footwear, just don't wear them outside.
