Hmmm, possibly.  Depends on the games and space.  I'll send you a pm with some questions later.

I have a spare monitor.  I'm good friends with Gov, I'll let him know.

Sounds fun, I'm just a couple miles away from you.  I can do Friday afternoons or anytime saturday.

I wouldn't be able to make a Friday afternoon, Saturday I'd be up for.  Personally I'm more of a strategy guy, but that typically doesn't get much interest.  I'm always up for BF2 or UT2k4, although I suck at the latter.  Or L4D, depending on the turn out.  Other possible ideas would be Dead Island or Borderlands.  If anyone is of the strategy preference, Supreme Commander and Sins of a Solar Empire are always good for several hours of fun.

As I mentioned, my rig isn't the smallest setup (which is why I frequently use my spare for LAN parties, so what kind of room do we have to work with?  Also, what all do we need to bring with?  I've got extra CAT5 and switches if needed.  Possibly some extra power strips.  I can also bring some hardware to sell.  LOL.

Far drive for me, but like most depending on the day I'm down.

Also wondering about space. I have my main and my spare. My main is kind of huge, and watercooled so it might be a hassle. my spare is more than enough normally.

Game wise I'm down for BF3 and BF2. TF2, GMOD, I like RTS but currently only have Command and Conquer up until 4. but I might be willing to grab some more titals of the steam store.

L4D, L4D2, I'd have to re-install BF2, BF3, Borderlands, Warcraft 3 FT, Red Alert 3, Alien Swarm (it's free), Killing Floor, Any of Valves Source Engine games.

Also, Gov doesn't have all these games since he doesn't have a Comp, Does anybody have a spare steam account for the night? Or if we do all this offline LAN mode, he shouldn't have a problem, right?

Once we get a date set, I'll make sure to get my steam account up and running in offline mode before hand.

I have copies of various steam games that can be used in offline mode but not online mode...

Copies of L4D, Counter Strike source, Day of Defeat Source, CnC Generals, CnC RA2, Half Life Deathmatch source, UT, CoD, Ghost Recon, Cossacks, Civ4, Civ5, TF2, Warhammer 40k.

I'm setting the date for Saturday, Aug 18th. 5pm-2am

I will say yes or no for sure closer to the date, but as of now I'm saying yes.

Quick question however for Internet/Lan on my spare (which I would be using) I can be hardwired or wireless but my wireless card likes to drop on and off, so hardwired would be best. anyways life story over. whats the plan for linking up as of now?

Off hand, I know I've got extra copies of L4D, L4D2, UT2k4, BF2, Civ V, Magicka, Demigod, SupCom, and Sins installed on my spare system.

I will say I'm completely burned out on Alien Swarm, played that far too much.  A good World in Conflict LAN match would be fantastic if people were so inclined.

^ Good one!

I'd really like L4D2. Haven't played basically since launch, fair amount of "new" content that I haven't played through yet. Anybody know how to host a server bypassing the 4 player cap?

I'd be down for some SC2 or 1 even Command and Conquer. Ill take on anyone in that.

Battlefield 3, battlefield 2, halflife 2, CS Source, CS GO (Beta), and really anything else. My machine is beefy enough to host just about anything unless someone wants to setup a dedicated server. I probably could do that in time given two weeks.

This all of course if my wife lets me :P

Ya, that's true... That's always good fun when you know who got you. :)

My vote is L4D2 Night. Whether it be a couple diff co-ops or a big VS match. (depending on how many we have)

World in Conflict I have. Absolutely a blast. I have no desire to play L4D2. IMO a terrible game.

I'd be up for Supreme Commander 2, I dont have the original.

Then you don't have SupCom.  2 was a complete failure.  Square Enix took out every thing that made SupCom cool in favor of anime cutscenes.

World in Conflict I have. Absolutely a blast. I have no desire to play L4D2. IMO a terrible game.

I haven't played a good game of WiC in ages.

Would people be opposed to saying officially this would be a Battlefield 2 (not bad company), CS:S , and L4D2 lan? Deciding ahead of time makes sure that everyone is on the same page, and can work out bugs in their installs so we don't have problems night-of.

Just plan on having them installed and working, and we can decide when everyone gets here which of those titles we will play and when.

Also, for those who are asking, I have seat space at my dinner table which can seat 4, my bar which is nearby which can seat another 4, my couch + coffee table can sit 2-3 more, and my office has room for 5.

I have wireless lan as well as 10/100/1000 but people will need to bring their own cables. Ill have enough cables to route individual switches to my kitchen and living room (which are next to each other), but from the switches to your PC is up to you. Plan on 10-15 feet and it should be plenty.

Given the above information, who wants to and can still come?

Maybe add Bad Company 2 to that list ;)

I'm up, I also happen to admin the #1 Dalian Plant Server for BF2, so I could kick to make room, it is based in dallas, and have access to a private server we could use.

I have 2 copies of BF BC2, but people dont seem to like that game very much from what I've seen. If everyone who responds who can go want to play it as well, I will.

Stupid question, but how does everyone go about transporting their rigs and gear? I haven't really been interested in attending any LAN parties in the past due to the fear of something breaking.

I'm in for BF2/L4D2.  I could probably be talked into CSS or sit out while other people play.  BFBC2 doesn't appeal to me at all nor do I have extra copies of that but obviously whatever the majority wants.  Personally, I would REALLY like us to play with the Hard Justice Mod for BF2.  IMO it does a great job of expanding BF2 (more weapons and vehicles) without radically changing the mechanics and adds some good maps.    I can bring the necessary installation files if people don't/can't install before hand.  It doesn't mess with your stock BF2 install so you can still play that without issue.

I'm up, I also happen to admin the #1 Dalian Plant Server for BF2, so I could kick to make room, it is based in dallas, and have access to a private server we could use.

I'm pretty sure one of my systems is still setup as a BF2 server.  Or I might be able to cobble another one together.  Plus a dozen people from one location trying to connect to an outside server doesn't work so great.  nuke, on that note, send me a PM if you want to discuss setting up a dedicated server for the LAN party.  It really does make life easier assuming you don't already have one setup yourself.

Actually I will be able to make it because I'll be coming home in the afternoon that Saturday. Mace u still planning on bringing that extra computer?

I can do that.  I'd recommend bringing a set of headphones though as the Creative headset I have isn't terribly comfortable for longer sessions (IMO).

Stupid question, but how does everyone go about transporting their rigs and gear? I haven't really been interested in attending any LAN parties in the past due to the fear of something breaking.

Carefully.  :)

Remove any wireless antennas, put the case/monitor in the back seat and use the front seat to keep it from moving (if possible).  Buckle the case in using the seat belt if possible.  Wrapping a towel (or similar) around it doesn't hurt.  Triple check that you didn't forget any cables.  Make sure games are installed and patched before hand.  Bring headphones, not speakers.  If you've got wireless devices, bring extra batteries.

The computer itself really isn't that fragile.  As long as it's not flying around, it's going to be fine.  Even if it's flying around, at worse you really are only going to damage the case.  The LCD is the bigger issue.  As long as you can buckle it in with the screen facing back, you'll be fine.  You just don't want anything bashing into the screen.

Installing BF2 now, noticed on the website they are showing patches 1.4 and 1.41.  Not sure why, but I'm downloading 1.41 unless somebody says otherwise.

Also, I have all 3 expansions if you guys want to play them also.

*Edit:
Figured out why they have 1.4 and 1.41 available. You have to patch to 1.4, then install expansions, then patch 1.41 AFTER expansions are installed....  ::)

Yeah, EA is awesome that way.  nuke, if it's not to much trouble, I'd recommend putting a copy of the BF2 patches (and the mod if we play that) on your server in case somebody forgets to patch.

Ill have copies of BF patches on my server, as well as mods for BF and HL:S/CS:S

Patches include 1.40, 1.41 and 1.50. All should upgrade to patch 1.50 though, as it includes free expansions to Euro Forces and Armored Fury and its what I'm running on my machines.

I have 2 spare desktop computers and one laptop, one of which will play most modern games, the other will be mostly limited to older games on medium-low settings, laptop is a bit more powerful.

I only have one spare license for battlefield 2 however. None for the other games. Unless we choose to play Lan only games or whoever doesnt have a PC has a steam account.

Also, to those who can't make it today, I plan on wanting to do lan parties once a month from now on. Working on getting furniture situated so that eventually all the PC's will fit in one room instead of being spread out in groups of 5-6 over 2 rooms and plan on doing CS:Go next month.
