Its just semantics, I think.  SIG, Sigarms, SIG Sauer, its all the same company.  SIG is the Swiss part and Sauer is the German part.  At least, to my understanding, anyways.

SIG is an acronym for "Schweizerische Industrie-Gesellschaft".  They started off as a wagon parts manufacturer in the 1800's in Switzerland and were contracted by the Swiss gov't to make rifles.  By the 1970's, SIG's small arms division expanded to include Hämmerli Target Arms from Lenzburg, Switzerland, and J.P. Sauer & Sohn, GmbH, of Eckernförde, West Germany, known for their hunting rifles. In the 1980's, SIG set its sights on the United States of America and opened up a SIGARMS factory in Virginia in 1985.  In 1990, they moved to New Hampshire.  AFAIK, the German-made pistols are the *best* ones.  I have yet to see a SIG pistol made in Switzerland.  I have a P226 that was made in West Germany in 1988, and a P220 that's US made.

<br />Note that those "rice burners" are all driven by white kids!  And the ones driven by those other than caucasian are completely devoid of faux-asian script and "TYPE-whatever" stickers?

Heh...  DEFINITELY not true.  After living in Hawaii for a couple years, about 5% of the "rice rocket" owners are white.  The other 95% are of asian/philipino decent.  Of the TRUE hopped-up cars, in Hawaii, the same percentage held true.

Not really... it's like buying a Browning made in Belgium versus a Browning made in Japan.  NOT the same thing even if it is owned by the same parent company.

There has to be some SIGs still made in Switzerland.  That is one gun-happy country.

A lot of young men go into the military for a few years. When they're done, they frequently take their service weapons with them.

I think it also has more shooting ranges per capita than any other country.
