If I follow correctly, this thread is "what would you pay for an annual membership, and what would you expect out of it?"

Is that correct?

Right on. Either an annual membership to a field or group, or on a per game basis.

I like your idea about a staff that doesn't play. AZ is the first place that I have been where the staff at a paid event plays. It seems like with all that goes into a cool game, there would be too much to do to play.

Lets not get off track here. This is not a thread about Maruaders Airsoft in any way, please post comments about thier organization in the approprate thread. 3k is a number that has been thrown around, so I posted what I thought it would be worth. You might be missing the point of the thread. If you want to add something, please do, but review the last line of the first post before you do. thanks

General Airsoft Discussion / What would you pay?

I was wondering, what would you pay for a great airsoft game? And what would you expect to get for your money? (as it applies to airsoft games, for anyone that got the wrong impression). Clearly most feel that a national OP is worth paying quite a bit for, so paying to play airsoft is not a terrible idea, but how much, and what should you expect? If you don't like long posts, but are intrested enough to read this far, skip the next paragraph.

The question stems from my own airsoft experience. I have moved around a ton, and have lived/played airsoft with clubs in six different states. That is not including the national Ops that I have attended. I have seen a pretty broad range of ways to play. In one there would be an extememly well planned out op every weekend (clubs would rotate) at a different public field. Clubs took pride in putting on a cool op and usually provided thier own props. All for free. No one there would have ever thought of paying to play airsoft. In others, there were similar games that charged a small fee to play. In others, there were outdoor fields that you payed to get on, then organized your own games, as well as indoor cqb areans that did the same. I was looking into another move, and searching around for what was available there when I wondered what would I pay if I could?

I would pay in the $10 range for:

A well thought out op on public land. It would require someone putting in some time and thought into a few good scenarios and a place to BBQ a lunch that I brought. Someone to take the time to chrono guns and keep the kiddies out. (under 16 IMO), and kick out the "Jack Bauer" wannabes who "dodge" BBs. That seems like something most guys do for free here although not every week, but if they didn't I would throw down ten bones on it. I think most guys would too.

I would pay $30-$40 for:

All of those things on a friday night op/saturday game. Esspecially if most people there had tracer units. They would probably have to throw in lunch on saturday, and maybe a free raffle or something. Again, the scenarios would have to be really organized and have a cool story line.

I would pay $50 ish for:

Those things on a field that someone built some legit buildings on. Or some really good sandbag bunkers

What would you pay, and what would you expect for your money?

I will throw down on this one. I am not a part of the Rebel Union, but have attended thier games, so this is a little less biased. First off, if you are making a decision about what to get into based on the turnout, you may be going about it the wrong way. Go with where you have the most fun. Its cliche, but its true. Some of the funnest games I have played are two on two. Airsoft works anywhere from 3 to 50 guys or more. Anyway on to the games.

Turnout for these games in my experience has been between 10 and 15, most being regulars, so it is a pretty steady number. The game is extremely laid back, which makes it perfect for a friday night. Usually one game is played before dark and then flood lights are set up for the rest of the games. The low visibility is difficult to deal with until you get used to it. The field has great cover, small make shift buildings and little to no cactus. There was no one there under 17, with most guys in the 20-25 range. Maybe it is because of this that I noticed that the sportsmanship was first rate. No "invincible-soldier-of-fortune" types that ruin games, everyone was there to have fun, regardless of who won. The games were quick, so that if you got shot, you only waited a couple of minutes to get back in. I will post some pics from last week. Good group.

I don't own the AFV, I own the longer A2 version, but the everything in the post is aplicable to both. (except that the SUSAT does not come standard on the A2)

OK, gotta weigh in here. I own the L85A2 version of this gun, and it is worth the money and more. First of all, it is made of quality metal, not the nasty metal that these other AEG's have. I have beaten the life out of mine, and it has held up with no problems. The metal quality alone makes it worth it. Second, it comes with the SUSAT included. Third and most important, it comes shooting max FPS speeds. If you are serious about your guns, you always upgrade your guns to the 400 FPS max. The problem is that it is expensive, and more often than not, the gun becomes unreliable the second you crack open the gearbox, even without adding anything, and even if you know what you are doing. Is it worth the money to have a gun that comes out of the factory without needing any upgrade? I submit that it is... (Brian Regan fans?)

If you are looking for the next big thing, the STAR SL-8 is a sweet gun, and is just out.

Here is some pics of other countries that we play with up here in Utah. That is Scottish Blackwatch gear. (I'm the big guy that is second from the left)

Close up. This game was in December of this year, before our L85's arrived.

Another cool picture. Thats right, my breath froze on my mask!

Star L85 (no SUSAT yet)

Sniped! this is a VIP scenerio where I had to kneel there as my team tried to protect me from a couple of snipers. Needless to say, they failed. In the foreground of this picture is one of the guys on the chinese team in his camo. I will try to find a better pic of it, as well as some germans and isreali's for y'all.

Enjoy!
