I like cheese...

I have the 3-color DCU and a "SPEAR II" (or so I was told by the seller) knock-off vest in "coyote brown".

Working on two sets of woodland BDUs.

WTF is "SPEAR II"?

well, i'm cool, so i wear OD.  woodland is to overworn by the guy next to me for my taste.  not only do i wear OD.... but ti's a mexican army uniform.  you see... they see the impracticality of wearing camoflauge in the middle of a city.  so they cut back and go with OD for that.

i'm mexican... so hold your tongue before saying anything to insult that.

OD trousers and jacket

OD assault vest (why the hell spend 200 bucks on a vest that is going to be worn 2 times a month for a couple years, i aint in the army).

Jungle boots, of course

OD hat/ OD boonie hat

OD helmet (we're cool, we just just make 'em green)

and lots of patches and pins that are actually contraband from mexico since they're illegal to own if not in servic (and thus to obtain.... bless my father and his wonderful connections).

Well, I can say with confidence that you have a very "unique" uniform.  I don't think you'll ever see anyone wearing the same thing as you, unless you go back home.

I always thought it would be neat to throw together a GROM uniform, given my Polish heritage.  Then again, I'd probably just look like a SEAL since they wear almost the same stuff.

I'd be afraid to wear a mexican army uniform in the southern Az desert.

Good News

good news friends, ive finished my soviet advisor uniform. soviet klmk, blue striped undershirt, siviet star belt, y straps, grey ushanka hat and a side pouch,  i found some pictures, advisors taught the nva how to use captured american rifles and pistols such as the ar-15, m14 and good old colt 45 in vietnam, so with my colt ar 15 and trusty 45 the uniform looks perfect for the part. plus all the gears authentic ( my personal standard).

May I recommend this book.  Read it, learn it, live it.  Who knows, you might  just pass the AIMS test.

You obviously didn't get what I was saying... I don't think many people in S. Az are particularly fond of the Mexican Army. Have you heard of the groups that patrol the border? Some of them would be likely to open up on anyone wearing a Mexican Army uniform on US soil.

yea... they have so much to fear from the mexican army.  i am pretty safe in saying that i doubt any of them have had any real encounters with the mexican army... seeing as most of them are probably to afraid to step foot into my homeland.  heheheh.

the military police.... well, thats possibly another story.

I wouldn't be so sure.  It generally doesn't make the papers, but having one or several Mexican soldiers cross over into the United States is relatively common.  In one case the soldier in question was encountered - in uniform and carrying his G3 service rifle - more than a dozen klicks north of the border, on a trail that is regularly used for bringing drugs into the U.S.  And that's a pretty benign encounter.  There are several cases of marked Mexican military vehicles chasing people away from the northern side of the border, and even opening fire on marked U.S. law-enforcement vehicles.  None of these incidents resulted in any action against the individuals or the Mexican authorities.  God help anyone who crosses into Mexico, though.  They take it very seriously when armed civilians or agents of a foreign power violate their territory.  I wonder why we don't?

But that's for another thread.  If you like an all-OD 'rig, and if it works for you, then that's all that matters.  Gear is nice, but it's the human wearing it that makes it work...or not.

i think the last time we had a major conflict with the mexican army was in the 1880s so we probably dont have alot to fear.most likely most border patrol hasnt even seen a real mexican soldier. Point is its a mexican uniform and its bad ass, and since hes a mexican its only fit he wear it. moral of the story its a kick ass uniform

Actually they have been seen on our side of the border a number of times over the last 5 years, and there is a house on our side that has holes in it from mexican army rifles. I guess some corruption and drup trafficing and such. I have a BP Agent friend.
