BBs stuck in barrel
« on: November 22, 2010, 07:55:13 PM »
I am having problems with BBs getting stuck in my echo1 SCAR-L barrel. I have several theories but i want to know which is the most likely:
1. The air nozzle is cracked
2. leaking air inside of the gearbox
3. BBss too big for barrel
if you have any other reason why this may be happening please leave a reply

are you getting multiple bb's stuck? are they jamming or just stopping in the barrel and rolling out?

if you want help, you have to provide usable details.

The BBs are not dirty and there is nothing wrong with the barrel, I usually use .20 and .25s and both get stuck

You might have a broken tappet plate. My M14 has done that before.

Sounds like BB's.  Do the BB's ever bind up in the mag?  Do they have visible seams or does the BB package say a +/- tolerance?  I'd first try new BB's and get ones and make sure they say the tolerance and that its a low tolerance like +/- .01 MM.

1) Clean barrel
2) shoot (on SIMI) till one gets stuck
3) slide de-jamming rod into barrel
4) mark the spot where it gets stuck on the rod
5) repeat 2-4 several times (5 or 6)

Did it always stop in the same location?
You probably have a bur in the barrel or it has been crimped at some point. Remember these have a tight tolerance to begin with so you might not see it.

Was it in different locations?
Could be bad BB's.

When you get the BB out are there any signs of a nick?
Nozel hitting and deforming the bb.

If the BB's are round and the barrel is true than they should roll out of the barrel.

Are you using a BIO BB? I have read about BIOS starting to degrade and becomming mal formed.

might be a bucking.  I had a issue like this once and the bucking was torn at the end and jamming bb's
