Battle Axe G36 magwell conversion, any good?
« on: November 05, 2010, 10:04:22 AM »
So obviously my STAR G36 mags just aren't going to work.  (see other thread for details)  G36 mids seem pretty iffy and I'd rather not spend like $60 on 3 G&P mids.

Lately, I've been considering getting a Battle Axe G36 magwell converter and a box of MAG plastic armalite mids.  I've searched around some forums and it seems that this combo works pretty well, but I'd like to find a bit more info.  (in case those people are just lucky lol)

So has anyone used the Battle Axe G36 magwell converter?  If so, how does it work and what kind of mags and bbs were you using?

If you have experience with a different converter, feel free to post your results as I'm open to another recommendation.

Thanks

The PPA magwell is better than the BattleAxe

I've read the opposite, why would you say the PPA is better?

Better materials/finish.  Neither work terribly well either way, so it's somewhat moot.

I'm guessing even if you get a good one they misfeed quite a bit?  Aznriptide from ASR said the Battle Axe one is better than the PPA.  A lot of contradictory info I'm finding....I wonder if these are just made really inconsistently.

So you think I'm better off with the G&P G36 mags?

That's because Azn is silly like that.  He also likes Pokemon.

I have tried the G36 to armalite mags and its really a pain in the ass. Getting the mag seated is a task and in most cases misfeeds. I just decided to trade my g36k for a m4 so i could use armalite mags.

If you want a g36 use g36 mags! But thats just my opinion.

My battleaxe magwell conversion using magpul magazines feeds flawlessly every time. Cant say its the same for other brand mags but my magpuls work great.

My converter is for sale too, check out the for sale section, its going cheap. So is the rifle, separately.

Feel free to come by and check it out and give it a try.

I've been using the Battleaxe mag well conversion and a little block that I made which works perfectly on my Ares G36 ebb. The problem with the converter is that the back of the magazine has no support and can tilt back, disengaging the pick-up tube form the mag lip. I took the G36 magazine flip lever out, made a small wood block to take up the space, and put the pin back through it. Flawless. Considering that I have 20 mid cap and 10 hi cap M4 mags, this is great for me.

Alright sweet, thanks for the info. Your profile says you are in Scottsdale, is that still correct?

Is it possible for you to take a picture of the modification?  I should be able to figure it out once I have the converter in my possession.

Thanks guys
