Im using a full mask (like always) so im not to worried about a gun thats shooting a little hot (~320fps) i just dont want to get pelted from 2 feet away with a 400fps gas pistol.

wow. if we can agree on a gas blowback rule, then I can play CQB! I for one would not be against pistols shooting over 300. I believe they are accurate enough for players not to shoot each other in horrible places. especially in close quarters combat.

I was shot barrel touching my chest with my WA para ordnance - the GBB is not that bad.. in fact I had no mark, honest, I don't think pistol should have a limit on them unless it is some ridiculously design gun like the pro killer...

I think GBBs should be allowed in CQB with green gas. However, I think they should be limited to semi only.

That would probably be a good idea, getting drilled with something like a 26c really doesn't tickle.

Yep, allow green gas in pistols... some won't cycle well with anything less. I think anything over 350 for a pistol should be out of the question though.

I agree with Nick. Pistols (most) can only fire semi only, and those that can fire full auto should be limited to semi. As long as they don't fire to hot like a Pro Killer then rest should be allowed.

So no one can use a KSC M11 or Maruzen UZI?

The Micro doesn't pack the same velocity though does it? I broke one of my mags using green gas so I switched to 134 and I think it cut back the velocity a good deal. If pain was an accurate chronographic measure (and of course it's not) it certainly doesnt come close to automatic KWA glocks running on green gas.

Jason, I believe those two smg replicas have the option to fire semi and full auto.

Micro is full auto only, Mac has both.

Okay - I wasn't sure. However, on the full-auto GBB's like the M11, won't going full-auto actually LESSEN the velocity? In my experience it does because of the properties of hfc22/Green Gas and the "cool-down" effects of rapid shooting. Thus, if you fire in semi, your first shot may be in the 320 range, wait a few seconds and your second shot will probably be in the 310-315 range and so on... whereas if you fire full auto, that first BB will still go out at 320 FPS, but the subsequent shots will drop in velocity very quickly because of the lack of "warm back up" time between shots thus reducing the velocity of follow up BB's in the full-auto barrage.

Here's my thinking - most GBB's fire at around the same velocity - that is - pretty much all of them fire at 280-320 FPS with Green Gas. Now, the NBB's (KJW MK1 and Digicon, etc) and GBB's with extended barrels (like the Prokillers) all fire in the 400 FPS range with green gas. We should probably not allow the NBB's and extended barrel GBB's for CQB unless they use hfc134a - and even then chrono them to make sure.

Personally, I think an M11 or micro-UZI GBB going full auto in CQB would add "ambience" to the festivities. [:p]

Leave my Prokiller alone, would ya! lol

Either way my gun shoots about 380 with Green Gas.

I think mac's and similar gas smg's should be allowed. It would make it a lot of fun and add, like paco said, "ambience". I don't think my mac shoots harder than maybe 330 or so. Maybe allow only akimbo mac's for those wearing trenchcoats. =)

This is a little off-topic, but what about Classic Army guns? Would they be allowable on semi only as long as they're under, say 350? My CA has a marui stock gearbox in it, but I know there are a lot of others out there with a CA as their only gun.

It might not be a bad idea to say auto is allowed up to 300 and only semi for those up to 350 (only exception here would be macs??). And absolutely nothing over 350.

An absolute line has to be drawn somewhere. I was afraid this might happen if I brought up the question about GBB's. NO AEG's OVER 300 FPS - period. CA AEG's are not *stock*, they are "factory upgraded". I think it may just be best to put a blanket limit at 300 FPS for ALL guns used (GBB's, AEG's, NBB's, grenades, springers, etc...), just to avoid confusion.
Regardless of what we do with the GBB's, ALL AEG's - regardless of make - are limited to 300 FPS/stock. If it chronos even ONCE at 301 FPS, it will be disallowed. That's not harsh, since all AEG's used should be stock anyway which would put them in the 280 FPS range.

I was not trying to sway the votes here,i was just voicing an opinion.Trust me im all about saftey too guys.I was nearly saying that the experiences i had with 400 fps AEGs and GBBs in CQB were not bad ones.We all were extra carefull and took lots of precaution.I am getting frustrated that i can not put what i am thinking into words. But yes i agree with all of you.(wish i could re-read my first post)
Title: GBB's and CQB
Post by: Paco on June 03, 2003, 04:52:09 PM
Question for all you AA members out there... I know that MOST of the players that use GBB's use green gas in them because 134a is not convenient to find or to fill mags with. That being said, GBB's using green gas tend to have a fluctuating velocity. Most of the more popular ones (KSC, KJW, etc) all fire in the 320-270 area, and most of the time, only the first 2 or 3 shots are above 300 FPS.
What is everyone's take on GBB's for CQB with the "under 300 FPS" limit? Should exceptions be made for *most* GBB's? I say *most* because there are some like the WA Prokillers that are closer to 400 FPS using green gas and 350 using hfc134a.

Or should we not allow Green Gas to be used?
