Title: Swap Meet at Gearbox Airsoft - 04/06/08
Post by: Nil8r on March 16, 2008, 12:14:19 AM: On Sunday, April 6th, from 11 AM - 5 PM, we will be having the first of hopefully many more swap meets. Come and buy, sell, and trade your airsoft guns, gear, and accessories. The store will be open as well if you need anything, but the emphasis will be on the swap meet for that day.

No cost to buy or sell, limited table space available - bringing your own table is fine. I'm hoping this will be a cool thing to do from time to time and I think it'll be a good opportunity to get together and have some fun as well.

Our major cross streets are McClintock and Southern. We're on the Southeast corner under the Jungletoy sign. Address for mapquest/googlemaps/etc is below.

Please RSVP by posting in this thread so I can get an approximate headcount.

Ok sorry, I ment that the swap meets I have been to always mark the expensive stuff >50$ at prices that are ten dollars or less <10$. The small necessities that go with them are then price jacked through the roof. Anything that catchs the attention of passersby, worthless or not, but is sure to sell (aka, shiney, glass sculptures, crystal balls, ect.) and are worth virtually nothing, are set at prices nearly 20 times their worth. Sorry for the confusing wordage. This is a common flaw at many swap meets that hopefully will be avoided at the Airsoft S-meet Lets set a new trend guys! Mark prices accordingly! That was the joke.....

1. Check the internet. Everything that will be sold (save for a night with Mikey) can be found there for comparison.

2. Ask other people. I for one will give you my unbiased opinion on anybody else's prices on an item to keep things fair. I sure as hell won't be jacking my prices. No point in doing it.

The prices were beyond what most people would consider reasonable, but that will ultimately depend on the seller. I remember a Gen 1 Russian night vision optic (weapon mountable) selling almost immediately for twenty bucks, not too mention some inexpensive mounts, flashlights, etc. Quite a bit of trading went on as well, I can't imagine this time being much different. Most of us are just looking to clear out our old stuff to make room for new stuff, not to make a profit.

Thanks to everyone that showed up, it was nice to see most of you outside of the field. I think I ended up buying more than I sold, but that's part of the fun, right? ;)
