Title: Gas magazine storage?
Post by: bailey5671 on May 29, 2011, 09:09:56 AM
ok so im leaving to go back to minnesota for a month and i was wondering how should i store my green gas magazines so they dont break down while im gone? currently i tried filling up the mag with a little green gas to keep the O rings lubed, seemed to work fine. but would this type of storage work for the month im gone, or am i better leaving the mag empty?

Usually I just spray the valves and important bits with a bit of oil, then keep them in my pistol case. Seems to work just fine at keeping the o-rings from drying out and all the parts moving, and the case also prevents dust build-up.

The guys that got me into gas guns always told me to keep a little bit of gas in it for the pressure on the o-rings.  Keep it lubed up.

I always make sure they're clean and lubed, and I keep a little bit of Green Gas in the mags.  I wouldn't advise you to leave propane in the magazines because it seems to cause leaks when returning the magazine to use (some claim it "dries out the seals).

Fair point, green gas has more of the oil in it than the propane with the lube in the nozzle.  I should probably pick up a bottle for storage.
