Title: Sunday 12 Mar. 2006, Game At Picketpost Warrior AO-UPDATED
Post by: Mooncruiser on February 06, 2006, 11:29:49 PM
Sunday March 12. Game starts at 10am.

New field; Picketpost Warrior AO.

THE SCENARIO:
The Free Movement For The Bowels Of Palestine have issued an ultimatum to the U.S. Government, dismantle the Apache Helicopter plant in Mesa, or there will be a detonation of a stolen Atomic Demolition Device nearby, also taking out the nearby collateral structures.. The Sunshine Acres Children's Home, a baby formula factory, and a Del Taco..

IT'S UP TO YOU.

The Assault Team must

(1) Kill or capture the Terrs and recover the right key to unlock the detonator box
(2) Find the device, and either..
(3) -Deactivate the detonator, or remove the nuclear core, or physically bring the entire bomb back to base camp for expert NEST technicians to disarm...Did I mention that the bomb and surrounding area might be boobytrapped???

The bomb will be on a two-hour timer.. Miss it, and the 'copter plant, kiddie's home, baby milk biz, and Del Taco becomes
~~~~~~~FIVE SQUARE MILES OF HOT PLASMA~~~~~~~
We need five Tangos, and the assault force, wearing ANYTHING THEY LIKE. (The terrs will have distinctive headwear)
Usual A.A. rules. No one under 18 allowed (That's firm.) Chrono will be onsite, no hot guns.
TO GET THERE FROM TUCSON OR PHOENIX; Take US 60 East from the Valley. Proceed EAST on 60 past the Florence Junction turnoff. Stay on US60 and you will pass a sign that says  2651ft." -About two and one quarter mi. down US60 from that sign you will come to milepost 221, Just after that milepost you will see a bright yellow sign that says "Truck Crossing" SLOW DOWN.. you will turn RIGHT onto a dirt road. (I will have a traffic cone and sign at the turnoff on Game Day.) -Slow down when you get to the yellow warning sign, the turn sneaks up on ya quick...
Go 1/3mi. to T-junction. Turn RIGHT onto Forest rd.231.. Go down road less than 1/2mi. where it turns South. Drive straight past that to the parking area where a gravel pile blocks the road. Drive slowly as you reach the game site, there's a dip you might  not see, easy does it..
We'll probably play 'till 5pm or so. The main scenario game may be about 2+hours long. This AO is huge and doesn't get the ATV crowd often. The area is full of hills, ravines, and trees. There is a USFS fancy toilet just a mile or so away. All in all, I think everyone will love this place.
See ya there!
Put me down for Green
Also can you give the coords for the area or the Quadrangle name so I can get a USGS topo map of the area.  I love maps :)
I will PM you later when I have a better idea of how many we will be, but I will be there for sure 8)
LOL ok I'll think of all terrorists as Hamas then. I guess a shemagh would've been more appropriate. Or at least that's what I would instinctively shoot at first.
Just remember there's cactus and catclaw out there.. Never heard of catclaw.. ohh, you willllll.... :twisted:
And, Chip, it's taupe.  Toupe is a Man-Wig. ;)
hint why there's a nuke there... no one will realy miss it :)
Title:
Post by: SilentDragon on March 10, 2006, 09:14:56 PM
I won't miss it.  I've only ate there once... and that's why I havn't eaten there again... 8)
There has to be ONE good reason to spare it... and i just don't know what it is.... maybe we could use the fish tacos's as fertilizer over the enemies grave... wo'nt be so noticable once the grass has grown  :D
As for the baby milk biz... i'll just have a rescue unit and a small team evacuate the area, so if it does go "BOOM," at least the little kiddies will be ok.  That team will extract them while we are after our objective on the field... catch my drift?  But the terrorists don't know that  ;)
Dress warm. at least bring a coat. Right now, out at my home in Roosevelt, there's about 3" of snow everywhere. I live at the same elevation as the field.
I expect there will be some residual snow there, but not much. It shouldn't be too muddy, as the soil is mostly decomposed granite. The snow will add a new camoflage element to the game, to boot.
Won't be too messy, only 10% chance of rain..
See you there?
Chip
Title:
Post by: Mooncruiser on March 11, 2006, 05:03:11 PM
As I write this, I can hear the rain start back up again.
What little snow there will be will be negligible, just a dusting.
The road to Superior from my place should be open soon. Gila Co. keeps snowplows stationed along with cinder piles along that stretch.
It shouldn't be a problem for anybody coming up from the Valley or Tucson.
Snow...
It's been so long since i've seen snow.  And the last place i saw snow outside of AZ, was in Germany and Oklahoma.  About 8" in OK, and just as much, maybe more in Germany... but i can't remember too much since it was over ten years ago when i lived there.  I'd like to bring a camera out and take pics, Another thing i like about playing airsoft is the outdoors.  After being across the world more than once, i came to enjoy the scenery... do'nt mean to sound like a puss, but i've seen parts of the world that are just beautiful... you know like, you see a scene in a movie that looks like paradise... it's amazing.  Having the window seat was treat flying into Japan.  Hawaii was jawdropping, too.  I do enjoy the AZ landscape as well, but after living here for a while, it starts to get old.
MY BAD, that was way off topic.  Well, rain won't stop me... just get me wet  8).  Hopefully it'll be a good day tomorrow though.... even with the snow.  Snow is cool, but i don't like the cold, so imma have to bundle up.
Chip is FINE. I am not certain why he hasnt posted anything here, maybe his phones, internet are down again.
I talked to him earlier today. Seems he got snowed in at his place. Guess he got a few feet of snow, all the power was out, no thing open or operating. Also of note was that US 60 was closed from Superior to Miami till around noon. So he wouldnt have made it anyway due to weather.
Hi guys, Mother Nature and the DPS decided to close the highway yesterday. I left for the game at 7:30, but when I got to Miami (Weat of Globe) there was a roadblock. I chatted with a DPS cop and he said the road wouldn't be open till noon-ish.
We lost power at 6pm Saturday,, and it didn't return untill about 3:30 Sunday. No phone or internet, as Ricky noted. Power was out from Showlow to Globe. I was able to finally get thru to Phoenix along the Beeline around 4, but the snowplows were working and Eastbound traffic was at a standstill. I took my open-cab Jeep and it was one cold mother ride..
Thanks for your concern, fellows. I really feel bad about missing the game, especially since I had the Bomb! I gave it my best shot. This turned out to be the most snow we've ever had in my part of Gila County.
I'm glad to see those of you who made it out there had a good time.
Carefree mtns have snow on them right now.
This was taken near the Mayo Hospital just a few meters south of the loop 101.  It's looking north.
Chip:  Glad to hear you are ok, we missed you out there.  If you plan on re-scheduling your game count me in.  It STILL sounds like fun!
1bad7 & SINJIN:  My Bud should have/will send the few pics we got.
We got to the AO at about 8:45 or so, and the snow coverage was almost complete.   As time went by it melted away.  Picketpost Mt. looked awesome dusted all over with snow.
We had a few unique things that took place like: Snowball fights, cept this ended quickly( I think people where not calling their hits  :lol: ),
Also I think a small snowman was built, but got quickly reduced to a puddle by burning hot 6mm BB's.  :shock:
I will say it again, this spot is great, lets play there more!
Be Well,
Phyrst
It's on Tonto National Forest land, and we've already gotten the "blessing" of the local forest ranger. The only restrictions are whatever fire/no fire rules, and if we have a planned group of over 75, we'll need a permit.
In short, we can play there anytime.
