Accessories & Gear / VTT PATCHES
« on: May 08, 2010, 08:06:51 AM »
After waiting 3 weeks for our patches to be made, the VTT patches have been completed. I have to admit, they look even better than I expected them to. We bought the minimum order of 50 at $2.50 per patch.

The patches are 4" and have adhesive on the back so you can iron them on clothing. This price was the best I found especially for the size of the patch. We got them from a local embroidery place called AzCaEmbroidery.

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place. The people were awesome to work with and made my drawing turn in to a well-cut patch. We are also getting hats custom made and I will post that when they are done.

To compare how good of a job they did, take a look at my profile picture to the left. They turned that drawing into these patches.

Tell me how you guys thought the patches turned out!

Gas Powered Guns / WE PDW vs. KJ M4
« on: April 27, 2010, 10:04:56 PM »
I am looking to invest in either the WE PDW or the KJ M4, but I am not sure which is better. I like the style of the WE PDW a bit more, but I am worried that the barrel length might be too short. Since accuracy is an important factor, I feel the M4 may be the better choice. But tell me what your opinions are on everything. WE PDW or KJ M4?

General Airsoft Discussion / Silencer
« on: April 20, 2010, 09:44:04 PM »
I want to buy a silencer for my Echo1 Red Star AKM. I know they don't really do anything but I would like to put a tight bore barrel through it. Any suggestions on which silencer to get? I am having difficulty even finding one for the gun.

General Airsoft Discussion / CA aug.
« on: April 20, 2010, 06:38:22 PM »
I am thinking about buying a classic army aug. Normally I would go echo1 but the one I might buy is used. I want to upgrade it with the phantom barrel extension, and a 550mm or 650mm 6.01 tight bore barrel. What other upgrades are recommended? I want to make an airsoft gun that has some range, accuracy, and a bit of power.

Accessories & Gear / Ghillie suit
« on: April 20, 2010, 06:01:24 AM »
I am considering buying a ghillie suit but there are two options. 1) Buy a pre-made ghillie suit or 2) buy a kit that comes with everything needed to make it. I've heard it's pretty easy to make but I am wondering if the quality is as good. Just tell me your opinions on what you think is better.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Website help
« on: April 11, 2010, 09:02:12 PM »
Hey, as you may have noticed I do not have an "avatar." I have a picture that I want to use but I can't figure out what size the image is supposed to be. I've typed in what seems like 10,000 combos of different numbers for the size of the picture. If you know how what the pixel sizes of it or whatever it is please help me. I'm not that good with computer stuff as you can tell :P

Reviews / Echo1 Red Star AKM
« on: April 11, 2010, 06:57:06 PM »
First off I will start off with the Pros and Cons of this gun.

Pros: 1) Good power, range, and accuracy
         2) Weight- not overly heavy. Around 5-7 lbs.
         3) Looks- personal opinion. But I love the looks of this gun.
         4) Magazine size- holds 600 BB's for hi-cap.
         5) Cost- $220 well spent at airsoftgi
         6) Iron sight has adjustable distance
         7) hop up works well.
         8) Overall quality is good. Real wood, full metal.

Cons: 1) The handle is slightly cheesy and can get awkward.
          2) Hop up adjuster is flimsy, but works well. Just be careful with it.
          3) The fire selector becomes loose after some time.
          4) The battery is a pain to get inside to full wood stock. Can only hold up to 9.6V small type.
          5) Attachments are not easily put on this gun. Separate parts will be needed.
          6) FPS is too high for some places that require a limit and .2g BB's. --> not good for CQB

Before buying this gun (the Red Star AKM) I was considering buying the Echo1 mp5. I was advised to get this gun from a friend in California and it was some of the best advice I have followed. This gun gives the perfect mobility and range that I want in an airsoft gun.

I have put no upgrades on this gun and it still shoots like a dream. I was slightly disappointed that I was not able to attach a red dot sight on it; however, the iron sight on this gun works just as well. If you are a person who likes to customize a gun with all sorts of gadgets, this may not be the type of gun for you.

This gun easily shoots in the 400's with .2's and will shoot from 370-390 FPS with .25's. I use .25's for better accuracy and it works like a charm. I also use the stock 8.4V battery just because I had a friend use a 9.6V and it seemed to mess with the gears. I'm not sure if that is because of the battery or not though. Because of the small battery, the rate of fire is average.

The only recommendations I would give for upgrading the AKM would be a tight bore barrel and possibly a 9.6V if you want a fast rate of fire. Also, a new handle would make the looks and feel to this gun truly complete.

The quality of the gun shocked me when it arrived because I still get a grin on my face when I see that real wood (no pun intended). Personally, the fake looking wood never cut it for me. The only low quality piece on this gun is the plastic brown handle. I'll probably replace it one day, but for now I can deal with it.

I've used the AKM several times now in skirmishes and it has improved all my games tremendously. Overall I am very happy with this gun and would give it a rating of 9.5 for performance, and 10 for looks.

I'm sorry, but I do not know the specific details of the inner electrical parts. All I know is that I plan to keep them the same and that they are good. This gun has never let me down and I am convinced it would not let anyone else down. Props to Echo1.

General Airsoft Game Discussion / Any games this Saturday?
« on: April 09, 2010, 01:30:21 PM »
Hey I have a group of at least 3 people that want to have an airsoft match this Saturday. We won't be able to airsoft till probably 2 or 3 because of ACT test. If anyone is hosting a game let me know. We are all 17 so we are minors but we are not immature kids that don't call hits. Just reply back to my post or give me a call or text at 602-909-8659 thanks.
