Reviews / Echo 1 Contracotrs Personal Weapon (CPW)
« on: November 20, 2009, 06:28:41 PM »
Echo 1 CPW
My second review, hopefully I'm getting the hang of this. Pics coming (soon?).

The AK47 is an older gun, and is to my knowledge one of the last guns still serving with wood furniture, but nothing about the CPW looks old fashioned. It hits hard (a little too hard stock, actually), has a great rail kit and metal body, and a lot of other excellent features. So without further ado, the CPW.

BODY:
The body on the gun is a custam body, flat black and entirely metal. On one side it reads 'Echo 1 USA.COM, MADE IN P.R.C.', this side also has the selector and bolt (also entirely metal). The opposite side also is marked 'CPW Cal 7.62x6mm, Contractors Personal Weapon' and features a modified jolly roger emblem with crossed AKs and a Beret-clad head. The standard AK style grip is removed and replaced with the much comfier SAW style grip. The grip is not metal, but is sturdy ABS and feels amazing to hold. The trigger and trigger guard are metal as well. The stock is NOT a standard AK47 stock at all, but has been replaced with an M4 buffer stube and ArmaLite stock. The stock sits well, but mine wobbles just a bit. On top of the receiver is an extremely nice rail, my only qualm about it is that its a custom rail so my LaRue mount won't fit on it. Now, the best thing about the rail is that it pivots. If you pull the rail back and up, it pivots upwards, allowing you to take off your receiver top without removing the whole rail. Overall, the body is extremely well made and is rock solid. 10/10

RAILS:
An AK47 with rails isn't the most common sight. Usually, for an AK to take any optic you have to bolt the optic in to the side of the receiver. The rails on this gun make it much easier. The railed handguard is made of strong ABS plastic, and has no creaks or wobbles. The gun comes with a Knights style foregrip, but honestly I thought it was crap and it ended up breaking on me before I even fielded it. Luckily I had a King Arms grip so I piut it on instead. Overall though the rails are nice. no moans or creaks. 9/10 for the craptastic grip.

OUTER BARREL:
Not very much to say on this one, its all metal, no wobbles, no complaints. The flash hider is an orange plastic one, but I took it off and put on a Noveske. 10/10

PERFORMANCE
After fielding it for the first time, I've gotta say it's an awesome gun. At the end of the game it was getting a bit tiresome and it's large size makes it uncomfortable to shoulder in a crouching position, but overall it was really good. Pretty standard range for a stock AEG. All in all its a great gun, worth the money for sure. 9/10

Overall
Body: 10/10
Rails: 9/10
Outer Barrel 10/10
Performance 9/10
Anything I forgot (IE, stock...): 9/10 (wobbles a bit too much, and doesnt feel sturdy)

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / WTT CB Coyote Tactical Chest Rig
« on: October 15, 2009, 04:43:10 PM »
Hey, I'm traded my Coyote Brown chest rig, if possible I'm looking to trade it for a battle belt and thigh rig (in coyote brown), although I'd take a belt/thigh rig and some cash too.

Also, the reason the topic has a question mark is because I can't remember whether its a Condor or Coyote Tactical rig, but I'll specify as soon as I find out.

EDIT: It is Coyote Tactical

AEG's / Noveske Amplifiers?
« on: February 15, 2009, 11:20:35 PM »
Does anyone know if Madbull makes clockwise-threaded amplifiers, because the gun I am getting is thread Clockwise and it seems I can only find Counter-Clockwise Amplifiers.

AEG's / FN2000
« on: February 13, 2009, 03:48:16 PM »
Hey so I was just wondering (this is a really random question) but does anyone know how long the inner barrel of the JLS FN2000 is? I've wanted one for a while and just trade my UMP for a shabby M15 and may sell the parts to buy the JLs, and I want to put in a tightbore but don't know what barrel length to get (this'll be my first time upgrading internals on a gun). Thanks

Airsoft Items FOR SALE / Looking to trade foregrips!
« on: November 29, 2008, 07:16:39 AM »
Hey, I currently have a King Arms vertical foregrip in black (full length, not the shorter version), but I have recently switched gear so I need a tan (dark earth) grip, so if anyone has a tan grip they dont need or want to trade for black, let me know.
Thanks
~C

PS: Shouldn't be to important but there is a small bit (approx. 1x1cm) of rubber stuck to the grip from where my laser aim pushpad tore off during a game. I remove as much rubber from it as I could but some just refuses to give.

Real Firearms / Bump-Firing Insight?
« on: November 26, 2008, 12:48:27 PM »
Hey, I've gone shooting twice in my life so excuse my lack of knowledge with real guns. When I went to the range with my dad a heard some guys talk about bump-firing, and when I looked it up it gave a lengthy explanation about it that I didnt understand, so could someone please tell me what bumb-firing is in simple terms?

Gas Powered Guns / Marushin Mateba Autorevolver
« on: November 26, 2008, 12:44:41 PM »
Marushin just recently released a limited edition replica of the Mateba Model 6 Unica Revolver. The gun in real-steel is one of the first and only autorevolvers in existence, and the airsoft one looks like a lot of fun, and with Christmas coming up I think I may get one. Its a limited edition run, and its made of HW plastic (plastic mixed with metal powder), and has wooden grips. The big letdown though, is that it only shoots at around 200FPS on HFC, but hopefully green gas will bring it near the mid 200s.

That thing at the end is a picture of a limited edition dummy round from Ghost in the Shell, which is a popular Japanese cyber-punk manga.

Gas Powered Guns / Scope for my Marui DE .50
« on: November 07, 2008, 07:35:51 PM »
Okay, before I say anything, I've you're just going to say 'that's a bad idea and isn't worth the money', then please don't post. I honestly don't care, I just want it for cosmetic looks. Now to my actual post:

Does anyone here know where I can buy some decent scope rings and a scope that'll fit my Desert Eagle. I tried using the scope from my brother's L96, but the rear scope ring doesnt quite fit all the way, its just big enough that the end peice doesnt screw on. Can anyone help me?

AEG's / Echo1 Zombat Stryker
« on: September 29, 2008, 07:39:47 PM »
Well, Echo1 announced their new Zombat Stryker, last week. It looks like a souped-up M4, but I think I'll buy one to go with my new IDF vest from TSI Armories (although the new CA P90 looks pretty sweet).

It's Almost time for Halloween and we have the perfect weapon for you. Acquaint yourself with the ZOMBAT STRYKER! It also works great with werewolves and vampires.

General Off-Topic Discussion / Anyone else glad?
« on: September 10, 2008, 10:24:34 PM »
So, for those of you that've been in a cave for the past month, the worlds BIGGEST atom smasher was test run today. And with big science comes...DOOMSDAY THEORIES. Apparently some German physicist thought that it hypothetically could create a micro black hole that would kill us all in 1/20th of a second. But don't worry, accordin to the European Organization of Nuclear Research, it is 100% safe because ALL of the operations the atom smasher performs are performed identically in the universe. So my question is, did anyone other than me and my history teacher stay up all last night because they were afraid of it?

Reviews / Double Eagle UMP
« on: September 10, 2008, 10:14:04 PM »
This is my first review, so hopefully its good.

Alright, so I know that most people (or at least the guys I know) generally think that ANY gun under $120 is going to be crap, and if its not a Marui, Classic Army, or Echo1 they think its crap. This UMP is different.

Arrival

Alright, so the UMP comes in the run-of-the-mill box with that 'improved hop-up' thing on the front. When you open it up you're greeted by the gun itself, and 500ish round HiCap, a Red-Dot scope, a flashlight, a (for some reason mine wasn't in the box itself) laser aim, a small bag of BB's, and a generic cleaning-unjamming rod. A lot of stuff to cram into one box, eh?

The Gun

The gun itself is mostly plastic, with metal body pins, safety trigger, trigger, trigger guard, hop-up access panel, gearbox, and the four rails on the top, bottom, left, and right. The collapsible stock has a rubberized butt which is VERY comfortable on the shoulder. Also, it runs on a special 8.4v stick battery, which is kind of a pain to get in. The connectors for the battery are accessed by folding the stock and opening a small trapdoor underneath it. The battery is then connected and slid down the body. The only problem is that the connector pegs are a tight fight, so changing a battery in mid-skirmish may be annoying. Also, I recommend using the stock charger for the battery, because when I charged it on our smart-charger it overheated and I had to order a new one.

Firing

Well, I can say after about 10 magfulls of ammo, this gun is great. With mine I only needed to adjust the hop-up a little, and there were no problems with jamming or the hicap. The one thing that IS annoying though is that there is  a small lever (can't remember its name, forgive me) and when it is up for some reason the mag doesn't feed nearly as many BB's into the gun and the HiCap needs winding constantly. But just a flick of the lever fixes that. I fired this gun on semi-auto at a can on a stool from around 50 feet, and out of 5 shots 3 connected. I haven't had a chance to chrono it yet but I'd guess it strays from the advertised 375 FPS to somewhere around 340-350.

After Skirmishing
Alright, my horrible review of this gun is almost over. My brother and I took this out to a small strip of desert near us to have a little one-on-one match, my UMP at his Marui MP5. After about 45-50 minutes, the UMP was still working perfectly. One thing I would like to say here is that some people have reported that there battery is weak, which makes the UMPs full-auto fire come to kind of a rolling start. I have never experienced this though, so it could just be a manufacturing flaw.

Wrap-Up
To kind of summarize this gun:
Body: 4.5/5 - Its sturdy and feels nice and heavy, but still, the plasticy feel is a little bit annoying. But not enough for a full 1 point drop :)
Performance: 5/5 - It can fire consistently on fully automatic no problem and works perfectly even after 45 minutes of skirmishing.
Accuracy: 4/5 - Its a pretty accurate gun for a CQB weapon. Much better than any I've seen

AVERAGE: 4.5/5

To all of those who are still with me, thanks for reading my review. Please leave feedback so I know what to do better next time. Also, feel free to ask questions about it in case I didn't address them in the review. Peace
~C

*UPDATE* After its 13th hour of skirmishing, this gun is still in perfect working order. FOr christmas I will be getting 3 Standard mags, and at that time I will rerate it based off of the standard magazines.*

AEG's / UMP standard mag?
« on: September 09, 2008, 09:53:20 PM »
Alright so I just got my UMP, but I cant find ANY standard/medcap/lowcap mags for it, all I can find are hicaps. Does anyone know if lowcaps for'em exist? Because I was gonna use it for Balkan Hammer, but I can't if I use the hicap. Thanks.

Accessories & Gear / Laser Aim
« on: September 08, 2008, 06:32:44 PM »
Alrite so I just got my new gun today for my bday. It comes with a few extras (hi-cap, laser aim, flashlight) which my Dad installed. He just got the aim installed and zeroed in. Now I know they aren't real great but its means a lot to my dad. The laser aim is on the side rail and has a little cord dangling from it with the switch at the end. Could anyone gimme an idea of what to do with it? I don't wanna have it just dangling there. Thanks

AEG's / Increase ROF
« on: June 17, 2008, 06:16:33 PM »
Okay, I know that a better motor increases ROF, but what motor will make my Classic Army M14 shoot at its fastest? Im going to convert it into a DP-28, and I need to get its ROF up, considering the DP (for those who don't know) is a fast-shooting LMG.
