Well -- If anyone dares to sponsor me, I'll have acquired my own means of transportation in six to eight months. +1/-0 players for AA games. As for your games, Jacob, what's the minimum age requirement?

I never liked the Marauders.
Some of them are good people, but it's been clear ever since I joined the AA forums (even though I was extremely naïve) that the Marauders' intentions were based on greed, not the love of the sport. $3,000 is fuggin' ridiculous. Making money isn't a crime, but exploiting kids the way the Marauders do just flat out pisses me off.

I never ordered from Redwolf. It's an Asian retailer, and every now and then someone posts here on the forums that they're ordering from Redwolf and if someone wants to order with them--so I'd guess shipping is pretty expensive.

If you really want that BDU and you can order it from within the US, go for it. Otherwise I'd suggest www.hdesert.com for their price and fast shipping since they're located in Arizona.

I want an RPK-74. And it has to look worn and dirty.
+plummed plastic furniture
+several normal-capacity '74-style mags, also plummed

I also dreamt up and drew up plans for a little contraption that fits in the receiver cover of AK models that can simulate recoil... it'd be cool if that became a reality. I like the recoil effect. I don't have money or time to invest into some little project that's likely to fail like this, though.

And I'd consider a 1x or 1.5x magnified optic, although I prefer my AKs bare.

When I still played backyard with my trusty gas pistol, I used to wear a wire mesh mask. A BB hit the mesh directly in front of my eye, and what I determined later to have been a chip of black paint really fucked me up for a few minutes. It dissolved after a while, and on the mask you could see a 1-inch-diameter area where the BB blew away a lot of paint. I can't imagine what a shard of sharp plastic would do to your eye.

There's no need to be aggressive. I assumed that the photos of the Type 56s were similar to the final product, as release is scheduled within the next few months.

I apologize for my assumptions in my answer to your third statement. I know Hong Kong is a territory apart from China. I did not know that it was illegal to manufacture airsoft in China.

1) If you are making a Chinese only lineup (which I don't have a problem with), why pick a gun that is indistinguishable from a non-Chinese gun?  As far as we can tell (at this time) it is a standard AK.  I see nothing that makes it standout as a Chinese gun.

1) It isn't indistinguishable. The dimensions are exactly as per the real Chinese Type 56, according to their website. Many of the people here on AA want realism when it comes to their guns and gear, right? Why not the Chinese, too? The flash hider, wood, and bayonet are most easily distinguishable from the other AK replicas. It also appears that the quality of Real Sword's replicas is next to godly.

Quote from: "XavierMace"
2) It is unlikely this will be compatible (at least not 100%) with existing upgrade parts. How many people will be willing to sacrifice the ability to upgrade and compatibility just to have a "Chinese" AK? Why not just get the Marui or even an MPEG AK and through a Full Metal AK kit on it?

2) Most AK enthusiasts shun rails and "modern" external modifications. To them it's strictly what you would see on an actual AK. As a matter of fact, people modify real AK wood sets and attach them to their airsoft replicas, and if Real Sword's Type 56 is to exact specifications, then many external upgrades should be easily fitted.
Full metal AK kits are expensive.

3) As their site states they are using a thinner gearbox which reinforces the idea of low compatibility and also brings up a durability factor. You won't be able to replace the casing, so what are you supposed to do if it cracks?

3) Well, for one, it's a Chinese company. In theory their parts will be cheaper to buy, and because of recent developments, stronger (twenty buck's worth of bang for your buck).
I highly doubt that they would not make individual parts for their replicas available.
According to their website, the new gearbox design is sturdier and the individual components are very tough. This might actually disprove the China-cheaper theory I just mentioned, but it may very well be worth the price, whatever that might turn out to be.

-----------

There are 1.3 billion people in China. Obviously not all of them will buy from them, but I think Real Sword Company will have plenty of local customers, not to mention foreign China-lovers, to get them on the track to becoming one of the airsoft world's more prominent manufacturers.

Yes, I know King Arms is a reliable manufacturer. Just in case, however, if you have an AK-74 airsoft replica that particular kit will not fit your gun.

That will. Just looking out for you.

AEG's / New manufacturer, "the Systema of Chinese weaponry"

This topic originated at Red-Alliance.net. Real Sword Company is a new airsoft manufacturer that is designing their replicas 1) based on Chinese weaponry and 2) to the exact dimensions of said weapons. Their gearboxes are designed to fit the replica's shell, not the other way around. The replicas are also full-metal, and real wood is used wherever applicable.

I would go with a TM M14 or if you want to be really cheap, an exact replica of a TM M14 (Chinese-made AEGs have improved some). The TM M14 is highly accurate and has great range and a multitude of uses. The only possible downside is the size of the gun or its stock, which feels "toyish."

On a side note; topics asking for help such as this should be accepted. Every few months there are new products or new issues arise that new or potential airsofters should find out about before choosing a gun. Obviously, though, if a similar topic had been started the week before, it should just be resurrected.

I can't directly link the video, but on the Future Weapons website, click on the "video gallery" in their navigation bar, and a window'll pop open. Then select "Season 2." The dragonskin video is at the bottom of the page, though only a few minutes of it, not all. Same goes for the other videos they show on their site.

Cool stuff.
