General Airsoft Game Discussion / Re: Looking for game ideas

In order to come up with a good, playable, scenario, first let me know how many people you have to work with?

My initial thoughts, based on what you are asking for, would be modeled on the takedown of Pablo Escobar in Columbia. You would have 1)Escobar and his Medellin bodygaurds, 2)the "Search Bloc" unit of the Columbian police, and 3)a small group of CIA contractors. Rules would require the "CIA contractors" to stay back at a certain distance and not engage in CQB (think snipers).

In terms of setup, it would be an assault on the already in place Medellin by the Search Bloc, with sniper covering fire from the Contractors. Win conditions for the Contractors/Search Bloc is to kill "Pablo", win conditions for the Medellin would be to get Pablo away "safe", maybe to one of several field exits points.

Joe? Joe Arpaio? Isn't that the address of 4th Ave. Jail? Oh, that's on Madison. Love the location, I could get 5 regular players there in those hours, if you could post more details, and pics of the externals of the location.

As a practicing attorney, specializing in Criminal Law, I can tell you the following. AEG's don't qualify as either BB guns, or "expanding gas" guns. Nor do they qualify as paintball guns. The guy who posted about "it depends on the officer" is spot on correct. Sadly, we live in a state where it really is the police officers call. What you are doing is not expressly permitted, nor prohibited. Your best bet is to be friendly, polite, explain what everyone is doing, and maybe interest the officer in the gear. Explain that it is all perfectly safe, and it is designed specifically for players to shoot at each other safely. Also note they aren't BB guns, and they don't run off or CO2, they are "merely battery operated". Under-emphasize the power of the gun. If he asks you about FPS, say "I don't know but it doesn't hurt". If you are polite, he'll either tell you to go ahead, and be careful, or he'll tell you to cut it out. If he tells you to cut it out, just pack up for the day.

It's unlikely that you will EVER get written permission from anyone, because they are afraid of liability (rightly or wrongly), should somebody turn an ankle or fall on a sharp stick. Your best bet is to go for it, hope for the best, and be cooperative with any local constabulary that may show up. Please, NOBODY BE STUPID AND BRING A REAL GUN, OR CONTRABAND OF ANY KIND. You would make it impossible for any of the rest of us.

Local Games Listing/RSVP / Never trust the media

Professionally, I've had enough encounters with the Arizona media to know you absolutely did the right thing to cancel. Frankly, it scares the hell out of me that the media is showing an interest at all in our game. It means we are in their sights, and a target. Anybody who reads this and is in a position to be approached (shop owners, field managers, club founders), be very wary, they will come to you next. No matter how glib, smooth, friendly, or persuasive, you think you are, they wield the editor knife and will "ginsu" whatever you say into supporting their agenda. You can only speak in soundbytes of less than 4 seconds, and each must be able to stand alone, in defense of our hobby. Try it in front of a mirror some time if you want to see how hard that is.

Just wanted to thank everybody involved. Good fun, good gamesmanship, and good manners. Best day I've had in years, I look forward to seeing everyone again; hopefully real soon.

Can anybody tell me what happened? Went by their Glendale location, locked up tight, but still inventory scattered around the shop. Almost looked "raided".

Were this to happen, I would be in, with two friends. I already got my shemagh, my flip-flops, and my goat.

Looks like the Marauders have a pick up game on Saturdays from 10 to 3 at their field near 205th Ave. and Bell Road. I'm going to check that out, this weekend and see if it is a suitable "fit" for our needs. I expect everybody will be back in town and available by Dec. 9th, can't do anything Dec 2nd, as that is a dedicated "real steel" day with the SAR show.

We are all lawyers, some, including myself, are criminal defense attorneys with lots of trial experience. I'm pretty confident of my rights and that no one will hassle us, that's why I suggest that location. You really don't have to kowtow to the government or LEO's, they are your employees, not some kind of neo-petty nobility. BLM land is ours to play in, so long as we are respectful of the resource and obey applicable laws.

General Airsoft Game Discussion / Short Games in BLM Land North of Phoenix
« on: November 13, 2006, 03:48:35 PM »
A couple of us older guys who have lots of family obligation time, would like to play some airsoft on any given Saturday for several hours, in BLM land just past Ben Avery shooting range. Is there anybody interested in such a simple thing, instead of the all-day-plus-long-journey-battle-on-epic-scale scenario's I see listed here?

We're pushing 40, don't have a lot of free time, but don't want to play golf. Anybody else in this situation in Phoenix?
