It's come to the point where even if the male is present, there is no method for appropriate punishment. Spanking your child is grounds to have them removed from your home and placed with some foster family.

My father taught me a great deal of respect for action-consequence pairs. It gave me a proper compass to judge my actions by.

My father, although strict, never once abused me. Did I get spanked? You betcha. Was the level of spanking excessive? As a *child* I thought so, as an adult I look back and you know what? It wasn't as bad as I thought. It helped keep me well-grounded, even now in adulthood.

Heck when I was 6, I got spanked in the middle of a supermarket for acting up. No one even batted an eye.

Corporal punishment, like anything else, is best taken in medium dosages. Too much, it loses its effect;too little, it has no effect. The problem with today's environment is that I'm surrounded by people who think that their parents were just being abusive. They didn't LEARN anything from the experience. Maybe their parents did it differently, and didn't have the before-spanking and AAR to help them understand WHY they got spanked, so they could build themselves a proper judgement tree. Who knows? All I know is these people are the vocal minority who get their will pushed upon the unsuspecting populace. And their will is to coddle the child for misbehaving. Speak to them, make them understand.

I'm sorry, but most 6-year-olds have no capacity for logical reasoning. You cannot sit down with a 6-year-old and logically explain to them why its a bad thing to do whatever it was they did.

People are decent because of fear. Fear makes and breeds decent people. Fear of God, their parents, punishment, whatever. Every human needs a fear of SOMETHING to keep them in line in their daily routine. Once you have nothing to fear, you have no north pole on your moral compass, and you forget which way is which. As a child, I feared my father's disapproval, and of course I feared getting spanked. That alone probably saved me from doing a ton of stupid stuff in and of itself.

As the child progresses, however, there does come a point where spanking no longer has its place. For me, that was the age of 11. At that point my father started having logical conversations with me about my actions, and grounded me rather than spanked me. So the punishment continued but the need for a physical reinforcement wasn't there. Of course by that points my infractions were so slight none of them would have deserved a spanking but still.

Anyhow, to close out my book, I agree with Bucket that there needs to be some sort of secondary presence in the child's life. I just think we often misplace that as a need for a two-person raising of the child. One person can accomplish it, if society leaves them be and lets them raise their child (within reason) how they see fit.

Very well said. CPS has screwed up many families. They say their goalis in bringing families together, Bull&%$#! There goal is to get more money for their budget, and how dothey do this? By placing children in foster homes. Research it. The bottom line is the almighty dollar.

One problem now being we have a society of young boy raised by women No father figure to teach and instil the man point of view of handling and owning weaponary

I was raise with hot guns(loaded) in my house and gun cabinets

in todays society thats a hugh NO NO

I know where I was raised it was the law that before you could go hunting you had to successfully complete a NRA firearms course. I am not sure if that is still the requirement in PA. the laws have changed so much.

I do agree with Gixser and Busta though. Society (in the current term) has become too liberal with the single adult family (I am not knocking women here). It is a proven fact that even in nature when the male role model is removed from the family it breeds offspring that are unruly and irrespomsible.

A study was done many years ago that took the male elephant from the family of elephants. The young male elephant that was being raised by the mother turned rogue. When the father of the young elephant was returned the young elephant came back under control in a decent period of time.

I don't even drive but it has already begun affecting my everyday life. I'll tell you how.
1. gas prices go up (diesel fuel as well).
2. This causes truckers to have to pay more for fuel.
3. this causes the transportation industrie to ask for higher salaries.
4. in turn the transportation industry not wanting to have strike on thier hands will give in.
5. The transportation industry then passes this cost along to those who they are transporting the goods for.
6. this causes the shippers to raise thier prices and that gets passed on to you and me in our everyday lives, Groceries go up, clothing cost goes up, the prices of everything will go up. And who is to blame????

The greedy F'n bastards in control of the fuel supplies.

I could go much deeper in depth with this statement but I think most get the gist of it.

My callsign was given in a sort of odd way from the rest. I didn't choose it. lol

I don't know how many here remember Teach, but he actually gave it to me without realizing it. I used to wear liner from an old steel helmet. Well after meeting Teach a couple of times he still couldn't remember my name so he put my name in his phone as buckethead and kept callin me Bucket on the field, and you got it, it stuck.

You can always move over here to San Diego where we have sniper rifles in the 650-700 range (and one at over 800)...

  it's little wonder why they are trying to outlaw airsoft in commiefornia.

I have a few questions being the Noob, Where is A51 and Is this open to those of us Noobs who are just learning about and already addicted to airsoft, and Finally will it be open to those of us who only have GBB pistols???

  Thanks for the patience!!
 Falcon

A51 is south east of Tucson, probably about a 2 hour drive for those of you from Phoenix. I would suggest bringing a little cash as we will probably met at the TTT truck stop for dinner that night before heading to the AO. If we do Dinner that night we will probably meet at TTT about 1430 to 1500 hrs.

Yes Noobs are very welcome, even if all you have is a GBB. There will be plenty of CQB action so it will be neccessary for anyone in attendance whose gun fires over 350fps to have a pistol for the CQB sections.

Patience is what we are about, that and helping new players.

Good post!

Alot of people have already forgotten.

I agree.
Too many have forgotten those that died on that day. Some of us here in Tucson get together every year in remeberance of those that died. We llight a candle for each aircraft and each building representing the people who were on them or in them, and a moment of silence. If music is played it usually is music that is in tribute of them.

We shouls remember this tragedy, for those who lives were lost that day were either innocents or heros.

God bless them all.

As I recall, 800fps is about the speed of a .45 round. This hasn't the mass, but it's gotta be dangerous.

Just a tragic accident waiting to happen, and guess what the press would report..

Exactly my point.

With it being an AIRSOFT gun some idiot will try to use it for just that and guess what's next........
