downgrading my p90
« on: June 24, 2009, 06:58:16 AM »
I currently have a echo1 P90 and want to downgrade it so it shoots 330 or less. The only cqb field in the area wont allow anything higher then 330. What exactly do i have to do, just replace the spring in it? And what spring should i use? Thanks

I would suggest a spring and possibly piston change.
I am pretty sure Gearbox has a Marui stock spring and piston set for sale.

My Marui (with the stock piston/pistion head/spring) shoots 325-330 with a stock hop-up bucking, H nub and Systema TBB.  I'd say go with the stock Marui spring if possible.

Thanks for the info, but i forgot to mention that I installed a madbull tbb that's a little longer then the stock barrel and I'm looking for a quick easy way i can switch back and forth from CQB and field play. Was hoping all i had to do was swap springs in and out. Would that be a viable solution or are other things required to lower the FPS and to keep from damaging my internals?

I've taken my P90 apart dozens of times, and the only thing I damaged was my motor (my fault...).  I know you have an Echo, but the gearbox is so easy to work on, and I haven't ever heard of a P90's version 6 cracking.

However, the easiest, and quickest, way to change fps is this, sorry about linking to Evike (I can't find it anywhere else).

Yah Ive looked into those, but i hear they don't work on full auto. I'll probably just get a Tm stock spring and see if that will do the trick. That way i can just swap the springs when i need to. Thanks again for the info

By the way how do you like your L85? Is it any good?

You know you can only use semi in CQBAZ (unless they changed the rules).

I need to update that picture...  The L85 kinda sucked to be honest.  It was an Army, and the blowback function was pretty cool, as well as the spring release latch.  However, the gearbox was a real PITA, it was horribly shimmed, and it was difficult to work on.  Also, the battery compartment kept opening, and we couldn't get the carry handle to stay on tight.  We got rid of it shortly after we got it.

Ive looked through their website and it doesn't say semi only, hopefully full auto is allowed. That would just be pointless to play semi only.

And that's to bad about the L85, I was really interested in that gun. But i was gonna get this one http://www.airsoftpost.com/custom-army- ... 28380.html
Not sure if the custom work on it would have made a difference or not but i so fell in love with that damn model type.

Ask Infidel about it being fun on full-auto.

Since the you would have to open the GB to change a spring, changing to the marui piston/spring combo would be fairly simple.
I am pretty lucky as I have a complete spare gearbox, so the swap is simple for me.

AH damn i went all retarded for a sec, For some reason I was under the impression that the spring was on the outside of the GB, if youve opened a P90 you know the springs i was thinking about. Dont know why i thought those were it, duh. Yah your right i might as well change the spring and piston and make it a permanent cqb gun. Thanks
