im currently a beta for it. It is your basic multiplayer UT game i think. I stopped playing it a while after i got picked for it cuase i lost interest and i dont have much time to play due to some changes at work. It would probably be pretty fun if you like the Quake style FPS where its basicly the "twitch" style fighting mixed with spaz movement. I would at least check this game out if you like the Unreal and UT games. Im no reviewer and havent played the newest version of it so DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. Thats just what i got from it however im more of a tactical FPS person my self.

Would you call it more quake, half-life, or tribes like? I ask because gamespot seemed to make it out look a lot like tribes 2 with smaller maps in their reviews (at least I think it was their artical), but that's nothing like the twitch-gaming, fragfest kind of game you're talking about.

I havent played much tribes.. like only once for a LAN and it was only a short while. From what i remember it did have some what of a tribes feel to it too. Maybe they slowed it down some from the first release of the beta but i dont know. Its nothing like half-life in my opinion which is kinda to bad cause i loved half-life and many of its mods. Im also waiting for HL2 and the mod that the makers of Firearms will make for it. They havent release any offical details yet but they are hard at work. www.firearmsmod.com for the HL 1 mod they did.

Mm... yes, I love firearms. It's really the only game that I keep going back to after I stop playing it for a while. Hopefully this holliday season will yield a large selection of new games and mods (including XMP). My only question is to the release date of half-life 2. It would be silly to do it after Christmas for the producers, but maybe they need that much time...
By the way, did you ever notice how much stuff for XMP actually came with Unreal II? You can really see that they had the architecture well planned before they released Unreal II without it, I just don't undestand why they chose to put it off.

Full XMP was supposed to be released to those who already had the Unreal II single player game on the 9th of December (the same day the Unreal II special edition package was supposedly released) (yesterday as of today). Like Mi-ushi Kami said, the demo is avalible, but one day... maybe far from this time, or perhaps very soon, the release of a game will be on time. The date that the PR people give will be correct, and all will be well with the world. Maybe Atari is trying to emulate Sierra. I will be eager to see when CS: Condition Zero will be avalible. The official release date is Dec. 30 I believe, but we shall see.

Unreal II XMP (multiplayer)
« Reply #7 on: November 19, 2003, 11:36:55 PM »
I don't know how many people bought Unreal II: The Awakening, but I'm good and ready for the multiplayer add-on to  be released. Infrogames hasn't said anything about the release date, but the game is already being beta tested from what I have heard (and we all know how long that can take). Infrogames intends to release a multiplayer version of Unreal II for the XBox too so infrogames may put the PC version of XMP on the back burner for a while until its Xbox version is ready (Just one more reason to hate the evilBox). If you own Unreal II then I hope you don't feel so ticked about the game's shortness anymore.
