And the media continues to attempt a mass public scare....
« on: August 19, 2010, 01:22:46 PM »
PSA: Public Service Announcement (yeah right )

I'm bored at work, and decided to do a random google search. I don't know why, but decided to type in "digital". One of the suggestions that popped up was "digital drugs". I got interested and clicked it. What I found blew my mind...
http://www.google.com/search?btnG=1&pws=0&q=digital+drugs

Best explanation I found of this sutff in 5min. of searching.
http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/you-20/201007/i-dosing-digital-drugs-and-binaural-beats

Turns out that a while ago (maybe three to four months tops), raves and rants about these binaural beats/sounds were a possible gateway drug. Is it true? I doubt it. The branches of this stuff root back to 1839, when they used sound waves to enhance a person's mood, help with pain, etc., by "altering brain waves". I think it's possible to achieve these proclaimed effects with a little bit of booze and a roofie while listening to this stuff. I don't know... I know they've also treated some insomniacs with aural treatment, maybe time to see if my insomnia can kick the music's ass???

What do you guys think about this stuff? Do you really think they can master sound waves to make you feel like your dropping some acid, rolling, and cracked out? I doubt it. Maybe you guys tried it out of sheer curiosity, expecting it to be a hoax? you guys think this could be the next gateway drug, and I should stock up on these files so I can sell them on the street corner? ;) Let me hear your thoughts guys!

There is a program called iDoser or something that does something like this.

I was having a hard time sleeping for a while when I was back in college and experimented with listening to stuff to fall asleep/calm me down.

It didn't work.

I have a couple very long sound bytes that are intense Theta Waves, meant to stimulate memory retention and concentration because they operate around the same level as brain waves near the skull (4-7 sec/Hz).  If anyone wants to try, let me know.

I heard about it. I don't assume it to work personally. Maybe I'll give my HDD something to make it spin? (pun intended)

Actually, I was meaning my Deep Learning theta wave sounds.  It's not what one would consider "drug-like" in any way.  It's sortof like a mild Enya-like background ambience with very low-level droning.  The second one has the same low drone with faint static, like ocean waves.

It's actually very calming.

Seriously though, I can give it a shot. need something to try and combat my insomnia. give me a couple nights, and we shall see who the winner is: iDosing or Insomnia.

Tried it all man. Even went without caffeine for a month. I've tried crash dieting for the lack of carbs to make me tired/shutdown. Zero caffeine, including tea didn't work. I've tried melatonin, but to no avail (even by upping the dosage to 4x recommended). Percs, vicoden, and other opiate pain meds don't do squat, though still have yet to try morphine caps. I've even tried the honey based crap, dairy myths, etc.. Nothing has yet to remove insomnia from my life :(

This sounds like some scientology s***.

Totally is dude! Sit back and watch my posts create a twisted, sickening, tale of how terrible life with insomnia is. I will make you lose your mind with my insanely stupid ideas of sleeping! Bahahahahahaha... But seriously, this really is some pretty scientific crap that's going on here lol.
