Magpul Full Metal MOE VS. ARES TAR 21 Tavor- Purchase?
« on: June 26, 2011, 05:31:02 PM »
I am currently having a tough decision about purchasing my next airsoft gun. First up is a ARES TAR 21 Tavor (Dark Earth). Now i am in love with the looks of this AEG. I am familliar with Ares but i have not owned one. I have read up alot of problems like a air nozzle leak, Bad piston and piston head, bad air seal, Also the Hopup bucking and barrel is connected to the gearbox wich doesen't give the buyer very much acess to upgrades to the gearbox. BUT I am absolutely in love with the unique look of the ARES TAR 21 Tavor and its Quck change spring system. I Have about 400$ to spend on a AEG That will Literaly last forever without any problems.
I Am also deciding on The Magpul Full Metal MOE CQB Airsoft Gun By G&P. On the other hand this gun from the reviews on multiple websites say that they have not any any problems, issues or flaws with the gun. Heres a review of this gun and after you guys rading i want you to please give me your honest opinion on why you would take one AEG over the other.
Magpul Full Metal MOE CQB Airsoft Gun
This gun is excellent. Out of the box the ROF is amazing. FPS actually clocks around 340, but surprisingly accurate for a CQB length gun. Everything is extremely sturdy, no wobble, and nothing feels cheap or plasticy like just about every airsoft product not made by Magpul PTS. I'm impressed with everything from the flash hider to the butt stock. This gun has made a firm supporter of Magpul PTS products. The PMAG is also great. EXTREMELY solid, I've put it through rigorous testing and its never broken. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS GUN TO ANYONE LOOKING FOR A HIGH QUALITY AEG!!! Extremely satisfied.

Pros:
-Extremely solid.
-The sturdiest, highest quality AEG I've ever owned.
-The externals are the highest quality you can get. Magpul doesn't skimp on quality. Ever.
-Out of the box internals are AMAZING. ROF is great.
-All around awesome.

Cons:
-None

If you want a gun that will last forever with no problems, run a KWA with a 9.6v battery and do not modify it at all. With that said, no gun will last forever without something happening to it sooner or later. Forever would suggest an extremely long time. Depending how often/how much you use the gun will obviously have a direct effect on the time that it will last. I have used a G&P gun and with the M120 motor and a 11.1v battery at 30rps I broke the axle right off the sector gear and caused a wire on the trigger contact to de-solder itself. Of course, that was less than idea conditions for trying to get a gun to last a long time. I haven't had the chance to use an Ares yet, so can't comment on that. I have heard great things about G&P, and mixed reviews about Ares just like you. Good luck in making your choice.

Thankyou. I would be running a 9.6v on the G&P and same on the Ares. The Ares's Pops a little more and grabs people's attention but i still think A Magpul'ed out G&P Looks Sick too. I Sure hope i make the right decision, Both are Pretty Pricey

I consider KWA like Toyota. The only thing that will go wrong with them, is something someone messed with. Leave it stock and don't abuse it and it will take care of you.

KWAs actually have some proprietary parts. I say get a VFC instead. The externals are way better and it is more realistic with the bolt catch/ release and thinner pistol grip. VFCs internals are also better than KWAs, and a VFC will cost less.

I can't say I agree with that.  What do you base that on?

I wouldn't say VFC internals are better than KWA... but man does it piss me off when I stick a teammate's midcap into my KWA and nothing happens.

Better move than the Ares. The Ares is a bitch to work on. It took me over 2 hours to figure out how to get to the gearbox the first time. And when putting the gearbox back into the gun, you have to get everything JUST right, for it to go together.

The externals on the Ares Tavor are supposed to be damn near bomb-proof, though, since the whole body is one piece. I don't remember where, but I think I remember someone saying they supposedly dropped the body from like 2 stories, and it didn't break (why they would do this is beyond me).

Ares Tavor is a tech's worst nightmare. Ares could have done a MUCH better job on the gun, by making it like an M60 I worked on, where the gearbox plugs into the body. If they did that, there would be no need for the donkey schlong length pieces of steel rod to connect to the trigger. They could have wired some 20g wire to that, connected to a mosfet, causing only milliamps to be passed through the trigger, making the gun MUCH easier to work on.
