Does anyone who knows any Marines over in Iraq right now, or is a Marine, know what specifically(spell?) they are using? Such as vests, ballistic glasses/goggles etc. etc.

Thanks in advance :)

My friend just got back from Iraq and he was issued the Eagle CIRAS vest (Maritime I believe).  I didnt ask about any goggles, those probably come down to personal preference.

Sweet peice of gear, a little excessive for airsoft,  but ive seen people drop more $ for less.

Thanks, do you know anything else? Such as gloves etc. I'm just curious because I hear alot about the equipment that the Army is using, but really not much about the Marines.

Edit: Wow. That vest is over $500. Anyone know of a nice quality knock-off? :-D

There are no knock offs of the CIRAS.  If there were, however, the cost would be similar, due to the complexity of the rig.

I just got back from 2 weeks in Yuma where some Marines that were about to deploy were training with some helos.  They all had Desert MCCUUs, whatever the new Marine helmet is called (looks like a PASGT with a 3 point strap), dropleg holsters (either Eagle or Safariland 6004) with M9 pistols.  ESS Profile NVG goggles with a tan or black cover, and a new style of PALS-covered plate carrier that I have not seen before.  It looked like the TAG plate carrier, but had different shoulder straps.  Didn't see any IBAs.  Pouches were on the PCs, and were mostly 4x mag across the front and a few GP, frag, and medical pouches.  Everything was Tan or Coyote Brown.  Their weapons were a mix of M4A1 and M16A4 with EOTech 552s and Trijicon TA31 ACOGs, respectively.  There were a few SAWs with rail systems and everything had an AN/PEQ2 on it.

I didn't see any of them wearing kneepads, but ALTA is the usual with our troops.  Their boots were either issue BATES, or Wellco Tuffkushion ICBs.  For gloves it was mostly aviators, but I saw some SWMS Max Grip NT and Friction Fighter NTs.  A couple had Hatch Operators (or similar design), and one guy had Hatch FOGs.  They all had green USMC issue t-shirts, and some had Underarmor that matched the others t's.

Single point, and 3 point slings mostly, but support gunners had 2 point.  I didn't ask about underwear or socks. :P

EVERYONE had a dump pouch similar to the CSM gear design.  I'm sure it is an issue item from the MOLLE or FSBE line, but I don't know for sure.  Hydration carriers were the OG Camelbak Storm.

Other Marines in Iraq are wearing IBAs.  You can get a replica IBA at JT for like 40 bucks I believe, in CB.

edit:  Everyone also had a lanyard on their pistol.  SOmething that looed similar to the Gemtech Lanyard Raith posted a link to in another thread.
