Need wrench'in party
« on: August 05, 2008, 10:58:19 PM »
I am need some help getting my APC/buggy/Samurai up and running.

The problem is I live in an apartment where I cant work on it.  I need to get the t-case swapped as well as look into the carb.  I just dont have the tools anymore to work on it.  I had a fire back in October and lost everything except the clothes on my back.  I have the parts, I just need help and a place to work on it.  If anyone knows a good carb shop that would be awesome.  I have a Weber 36DCNF which is off a Ferrari and the motor is a 1.6 8v Suzuki which is BUILT! EVERYTHING that can be done HAS been done.  She redlines at 12k and sounds like a Japanese Zero coming in for attack.

NOW for the gooood stuff.  She can and will be used as an APC in any airsoft event that will allow it.  I dont mind it getting shot. lol

Cheers

Karl's is awesome and they are really cool guys, but, if he doesn't have enough cash for tools, he doesn't have enough cash to go to Karl's.

Dudes are WAY expensive.

I am replacing my tools, and I have the $$$ saved up for the carb work. I expect that it would be $200-$300 to get it dialed in.  I have to change jets every time the temp changes 20-30 degrees anyways. lol  With everything being such high performance parts, there is very little room for error.

The problem with the tool is that I had MAC and Snap-On. (only a few of the snap-on wrenches.)  I really wanted to get MAC replacements, but I doubt thats going to happen.  This is what I want to get to replace them :http://www.mactools.com/Mac/Mac+Products/Catalog/Hand+Tools/Wrenches/Sets/Metric/SML19KS  but for now I will get cheap "PowerBuilt" wrench/socket set.  They last about a month with me.  I figure if I just get a MAC wrench and some sockets made for air-tools I will be GTG.  I also lost my compressor and air-tools in the fire, but those where "Harbor Freight" stuff.  They seemed to work well and I would bring the take full of air to fill my tires back up after rock crawling.  My 33's would be down to 2-3PSI wheelin, 17 when driving in-town, and 25 when I had to road it back on the freeway for more than an hour.

The best thing with a Zuk is that armed with a large hammer and 10-17mm wrenches you can just about take the whole thing apart. lol

If you have the cash, definitely head over there. It's on like, 42nd Street and Indian School, on the north side of the road.

Karl's Custom Veedub and Offroad if you wanna look it up.

Make Another Choice

Snap-on's wrenches have a smaller OD on the closed end than any other tool mfg. Their ratchets are also hand and fist above anyone elses (80 tooth ratcheting rocks). Other than those things... Craftsman is a great way to go. Good enough to get the job done, and cheap enough to be worth buying.
