Definitely check out Fightertown. I've been there twice and had a lot of fun both times. I dunno if I'd recommend it for sniping though. Last time I was there, my friend ended up ditching his sniper and borrowing two gas pistols for most of the day. There is a guy (Spartan117x) who sets up bi-weekly games and those always draw a decent crowd.

oh okay.

Well it seems I would like to snipe, but I really don't want to drop and get something so single use... I am deciding to get some sort of M4 style, SR10, or RIS gun. That way I can use it several ways and if I want to go long range there are simple upgrades down the road I can perform to make it the way I want.

I've had good luck with:
-A light recon vest
-face/eye protection
-BDUs
-A decent AEG (an Echo1 AK, in my case) w/four mid-cap mags, two speedloaders and a -----spare battery
-gloves

Everything else is gravy.

There's not much call for the sniper role in typical games.

To add to what Xavier said, Airsoft would not have hooked me if Vanguard had been my first taste. My intro was one of the STALKER games at Sasco. That was just nuts. And FighterTown is awesome, too. For stores ... Gearbox on McClintock and Southern is a bit further away from you, but they're good people.

yeah that store really isn't that far honestly, I will most likely go there this week.

and as for the Sniper thing I totally get how there's not much need or want... areas really aren't that big, and honestly, its not a real sniper which means I'm not really shooting for a super far away vantage point..

And more kiddies than you can shake a stick at.  I would not recommend Vanguard as your first taste of airsofting.  You might not want to try it again.
Words of wisdom, those tots are annoying as fuck.
