1)  Both patterns look STOOPID (TM)  and serve no discernable purpose.  Waste of bloody money.

2)  Aside from the STOOPIDity (TM) of the uniforms, those have to be the dumbest photos ever published by the Navy.  Are they trying to convince the general public that the U.S. Navy likes those uniforms by having the models put on sh*t-eating grins?

This is the kind of crap that happens when you spend more time training your officers to be administrators than you do training them to be commanders.

We are fighting a very unconventional war, and will continue to for many years to come. This means everyone is a target, civilian or military, rifleman or doctor.

One strong possible reason besides making them less of a target at distance, is to improve moral and recruiting. I would be more interested in joining a branch of service that used a BDU style uniform like the other branches. Just wearing work clothes, etc... would not instill as much motivation as a uniform that looks cool. Just like the same reason we wear our uniforms and gear in Airsoft.

If this is what our fighting sailors want then I think they should get them. I am sure they have conducted many surveys from Navy serviceman that are interested in this change.

Here's a couple uniforms being tested by the squids, er...U.S.Navy

See how well he blends in...with the rest of the ship?  HA!

I think they're both ghey, but the pixelated digital camo is just ridiculous.  Like trying to watch HBO when you have basic cable!

navy and marines go hand in hand so they should both wear the marpat. the army and the airforce used to be together as the army aircorps back in the day so they should both use the acupat. color coding the branches is an expensive buisness,  they should share and save the tax payer a little money.

Navy Corpsman wear MARPAT. I'm not sure what the Seabees wear, but I'm pretty sure its regular ol' 3 color desert.

A sound point indeed.  The issue with these patterns is branch-specific pride.  Each service wants a pattern unique to them.

I frankly have no problem with wearing the same uniform as the AF, Navy, and Marines.  If they change the uniform, I think it should be to make it more effective (which I think the ACU is), not just for the sake of changing it!
